Meet Miami Knight

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miami Knight.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Miami. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Through eight years of suffering from traumatic grief & loss which caused significant emotional scaring after losing my father, my sister, and my beloved son who also suffered from a traumatic brain injury on December 17, 2011 from a gunshot wound to his head, along with losing his best friend that fatal night due to senseless street violence. Ty-Key became the key witness to his attempted murder and homicide case convicting the two frenemies who conspired against them receiving two double life sentences. Five years later, on January 27, 2017, my son Ty-Key suicided.

I founded Miami Knight LLC, a grief crisis recovery company after his 1st year death anniversary finally deciding to choose myself and to live past my losses. After a serendipitous vision board party, becoming a vegan and attending a transformative women’s healing retreat. I wanted to create a healthier lifestyle for myself and my family as we transitioned through the process of grief.

In 2018 I became a Certified Master Grief Coach, Usui Reiki III Master, and Speaker, starting a grief podcast named ‘It’s the Miami Knight Show-Grief Talk.’ Along my journey, I became more spiritual and very well connected to a higher consciousness. This helped me to manage my life as I supported others through the stages of grief.

After several intense training’s on understanding ways to heal grief & loss, I became a Grief Educator and Trainer. I also authored “The Key Process: A Grief Guide to Mastering Spiritual Healing”, and became a MoonRise 2019 Medicine Sister (Shaman). In May of 2019, I partnered with Bullets 4 Life (B4L) becoming the Chief Ambassador for the Atlanta region. Becoming an advocate and dedicating my life to support others affected by grief and gun violence. Bullets 4 Life is 501c3 organization that creates handmade jewelry and accessories and my body of work with the organization consists of collecting bullets off of the streets of Atlanta. I have also received bullet surplus donations from a national gun manufacturer and local gun ranges, re-purposing those bullets for a purpose. The B4L mission brings awareness about senseless gun violence and its effects on our communities, one bullet at a time. My certified training supports a network of grievers and survivors through grief crisis recovery.

Has it been a smooth road?
Let’s just say it been a journey. Since my company is for profit, I’ve had to use my own resources to fund my coaching and training services. It also takes time for individuals to become open to sharing their losses as well as seeking the support they need due to the miseducation on how we process thoughts and emotions.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Miami Knight LLC is a Grief Crisis Recovery Company specializing in Grief Coaching and Bereavement, Grief Support Healing Circles and Community Outreach. We are known for our Grief Education and Training Programs, Energetic Healing Services, Advocacy, Speaking Engagements, Workshops and Retreats.

I am most proud of supporting individuals and families that no longer live in silence as they decide to live life differently by defining their own unique grief journey.

We’re supporting networks that educate others by utilizing tools, techniques, and real-life situations to help others understand the grief process as they find ways to heal.

We are set apart because of our partnerships which helped in the development for a stronger advocacy to create more awareness on gun violence and suicide prevention.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, because grief, mental health and gun violence is a global concern and not to mention a public health crisis. With my advocacy, I’m proposing new legislation on the local, state, and federal levels to create more research to support educational programs like mine─ to be implemented into school systems and our workforce.

Atlanta is a very diverse city and a place where you can create infinite possibilities while making changes within your life and the lives of others. You’ll need patience for the process because the process is key!
