Meet Michelle Williford of Tres’ Belle Recovery Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Williford.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Michelle. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve been a professional nurse for more than 17 years in various areas including post operative care. My parents are both entrepreneurs and I’ve always wanted to be one as well. I took a Birkman Personality test at 19 years old and again at 36 and both said my career was supposed to be an entrepreneur. It confirmed and re-confirmed entrepreneurship was what I’d already felt in my heart years before taking the tests.

Flash forward and about 5 years ago my mother had a medical procedure and decided to have a cosmetic procedure along with it. Although she shared it with me, I noticed how secretive she was with others. Because I am a nurse and her daughter I volunteered to care for her after surgery. Four days after the procedure I noticed her pain level was unusually high. We got her back to the doctor only to find she was having major complications. Had I not been a nurse and been able to identify the issues early it could have been life threatening. After going thru this, I knew I was on to something. There had to be others who needed and wanted my services. After doing my research I decided a discrete concierge nursing service was ideal for plastic & cosmetic surgery patients.

I’ve always been fascinated with the beauty industry so to combine luxury, beauty, and nursing was the perfect combination to me.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. Running a business is one of the toughest things I’ve ever done. My concept is a niche specialty; therefore, I don’t have a lot of examples to emulate. It’s been a lot of learn as I go and mainly listen to what my clients ask for.

As with any startup, business has been up and down. After speaking with my clients they felt it was mainly because people don’t know these services are available in Atlanta.

That’s really interesting to me because Atlanta has over 100 plastic surgeons paired with the glam of over 30 movies per year being filmed here. With the movie industry comes stars who always need to look great in front of the camera. Plastic surgery recovery care, particularly discrete pampered care is simply a natural extension of surgery. Aside from the movie industry the average person whether male or female wants to feel sexy and confident. You would not believe the number of people who are having surgery on a daily basis here in Atlanta. We need to help the patients and doctors understand the benefits of working with a recovery service who specializes in cosmetics & plastics.

We are in the process of opening a luxury recovery home so that’s proving to be a bit of a challenge.

Pulling together projections and accounting plans on such a large scale is new for me so it’s necessary that I put a team in place who have been there and done that.

This type service is big in the Dominican Republic, Brazil, and even Thailand where you have a tremendous number of surgeries happening. Over their doctors make it a regular part of their surgical recovery process. That’s what we’re hoping to change here. It’s very much a shift in mindset about the value we bring. Hopefully, the home will be up and running before the end of the year. Our clients have asked for it so we’re going to make it happen for them.

Plastic surgery is becoming more popular and not as taboo as it used to be in the United States, therefore I expect more patients and doctors will be requesting recovery care in the future.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Tres’ Belle Recovery Care – what should we know?
Tres’ Belle Recovery offers discrete nursing & concierge services to clients who have had plastic, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. We provide everything to ensure our clients heal in a stress-free environment and free of complications. Choosing a recovery provider is just as important as choosing your surgeon.

We are NOT a home health care agency. Our team offers customized post surgical attention during the first 24-72 hours and beyond if the client desires. We provide everything from transportation, nursing care, healthy healing meals, light housekeeping, grocery shopping, etc. Whatever our clients need that allows them to stay focused on their healing that’s what we provide. Doctors like our services because they can rest assured if there are complications they will be alerted early. Because we specialize in plastic, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery we are able to identify potential complications that most home health-care teams would not be able to identify or handle. Many times, we are able to assist our clients with techniques that avert a doctor’s visit.

What I love most about this aspect of surgical recovery is how happy and satisfied our clients are with their body & beauty changes. These surgeries are a choice for most of our clients and something they have considered on the lower end of the spectrum 2-3 years.

Our goal is to always provide a superior luxury recovery experience. Our mottos are “REST RELAX RECOVER” and “Keep Being Beautiful”.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My long term partner and daughter have been my biggest supporters since the inception of this idea.

When I decided it was something I wanted to do both were extremely excited and knew Tres’ Belle had potential. They contributed to brainstorming the concept and offering ongoing feedback during the development. My partner has not only encouraged but financially supported me every step of the way.

It’s hard to express the level of support he’s given me. I am truly grateful that he believed in me enough to help me make some of this vision possible. It’s important to have people around you who believe in your dream before they can see it.
