Meet Morgan Kelley of Scarlett Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Kelley.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Morgan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was raised by parents that loved to host events in our home. When it was time for me to decide what I wanted to do with my life, it was almost a no-brainer. I could have the opportunity to plan intimate, special events that celebrated major milestones and achievements?

When my best friend got engaged, as her Maid of Honor I planned her bridal shower. I was in pure heaven. I hosted an afternoon high tea in her honor. There were florals, we had elegant linens, I selected the menu, I organized all of the logistics. I was so happy and I had so much fun doing it. This was when the first seed was planted. Going forward I planned several other intimate events for friends and family. I tried a few other career paths but realized that events were my passion and where I truly thrived.

I started on the path of entrepreneurship in 2015 when I founded Scarlett Events. It’s been a roller coaster but I wouldn’t change it for anything and I haven’t looked back since.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Launching a product has been much more challenging than I ever imagined it would be. This is a whole new world for me, one that I am excited to be a part of, but one that is nothing like anything I’ve ever encountered.

One of the struggles has been finding products that are different and unique. Products that the customer can’t find at say a Party City or a Target. I want to make sure that my customers have quality products like nothing they’ve ever seen before. Products that are durable and reflect a classic sense of style.

Another difficulty has been pricing. I had to first get a sense for what people were spending on the average party. I wanted to not only give the gift of time but also offer convenience without producing a product that was too costly. It was a struggle to find that sweet spot.

Lastly, the E-commerce portion of selling a product online is definitely new territory. My web designer helped so much with this portion but it has still been difficult to navigate in terms of making sure the customer has an easy, stress-free, and seamless experience.

As an entrepreneur, you find that there is a new struggle each day but you press forward because you were born to do it and you’re just that passionate about your brand and what you have to offer your customers!

Scarlett Events – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We love to plan any and all events! We plan baby showers, bridal showers, intimate weddings, corporate events. Anything you can imagine.

My business focuses on creating events for women that love the elegance of simplicity and would rather live in the moment and create memories than stress about details. It’s what motivated me to create the Scarlett Collection. The Scarlett Collection is about more than taking the fuss out of party planning; it’s about giving you the gift of time.

I launched the Scarlett Collection just two weeks ago (In August of 2018)… The Scarlett Collection is a themed party suite, a “party in a box” if you will. Each collection includes everything one needs to pull off the perfect Pinterest worthy party. It’s all available at your fingertips with the click of a button.

One of the things that is unique about these collections is that they feature personalized backdrops, personalized invitations, personalized water bottle labels and thank you notes. These allow the customer to really make the party their own. It was really important to me to select themes that were unique. Additionally, I wanted to make sure that the style of design was specific to Scarlett Events.

Each box includes party favors, gift bags, complete place settings, and various decor elements. Additionally, because we wanted to provide the complete experience we have add-ons like linen rental, a venue, seating, balloon installations, and yes even cakes too! We thought outside the box so our guests wouldn’t have to. We wanted to give customers/clients the gift of time; the availability and option to spend time doing the things that matter versus going to this store and that store to get things for a party.

Time to laugh and smile with those you love. Time to be in the present. Time to be grateful for and enjoy the amazing life you lead. Time to be present and create memories you will never forget. We are unique in that we offer the complete solution to party planning. We worked very hard to make sure that every detail was considered. We wanted to make sure that the package (or box in this case) was complete.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success by freedom of time. The ability to choose the hours I work, the clients I work with, the flexibility to choose where I am going to work (will I work by the pool today or will I plant myself at my local coffee shop?).

I am successful when I have the freedom of time to give back to my community. When I am able to make a difference in the lives of others via my contribution of time and or contribution of financial assistance.

For me, success equals fulfillment and happiness. I’m successful when my clients are happy and when their event surpasses all of their expectations. When the client is able to really sit back, relax, and enjoy the event. I’m successful when my clients choose to come back to me again and again for their event needs.
