Meet Phoenix C. Weathers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Phoenix C. Weathers (C.W)

Hi Phoenix, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started off modeling different fitness photoshoots for associates and friends. I was heavily into CrossFit at the time and training others as a certified personal trainer, so physical fitness was my passion and my life. My focus was also on my career as a Strategic Management Consultant (10+ years), helping small to large corporations solve major problems within IT. The work was (and still is) meaningful and exciting to me, but I wanted to do something that was outside of my comfort zone. I reached out to a local Atlanta modeling company to schedule a photo shoot and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I truly felt comfortable in my own skin. From that moment on, I knew that modeling was not just a former passion that was re-ignited, it became a creative outlet to express myself in ways I never imagined. When I am in front of the camera, it feels like a liberating, outer-body experience for me. I love it.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve had many struggles, but they have been more internal than external. The biggest one that comes to mind is learning to do the ‘work’ within in order to manage my own expectations, responses, and actions towards myself & others. I’ve learned to focus on how to truly value and accept myself fully rather than to seek this validation outwardly. I’ve had to change how I view myself (and others in some instances) by constantly challenging the way I think—changing negative thoughts into positive ones. One of my favorite sayings from the philosopher Lao Tzu: “Because one believes in oneself, one does not try to convince others. Because one is content with oneself, one does not need others’ approval. Because one accepts oneself, the whole world accepts him or her.” When we turn our focus inward, we are no longer distracted by the noise of the outside world, but find healing, peace, comfort, love, life, and purpose. We are then able to find meaning in what we do and who we are in life.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an independent model with years of freelance experience. My interests are in hair & beauty, advertisement, sports & fitness, catalogue modeling, and androgynous fashion. I’m also a Strategy, Management, and Portfolio consultant specializing in agile delivery and execution, agile transformation, SAFe agile methodology, process improvement, & portfolio and program management. Basically, I help organizations transition from one way of working to another and help build governance models to help them execute against their portfolios. Not only do I have a unique look for modeling, but I also have business acumen, a positive attitude, a poised demeanor, confidence, and an excellent problem solver.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me is finding inner peace and balance within life, no matter what happens. It’s the ability to be ‘unshaken’ by life’s activities and other peoples’ choices. Individual success is subjective and depends on what’s important to you as a person.
