Meet Regina Jackson of Corks and Cuvee in Conyers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Regina Jackson.

Regina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I had a successful career in Finance before starting Corks and Cuvee. I have had a love of wine pretty much my entire adult life. I started studying wine approximately ten years ago. I am a Certified Specialist of Wine, French Wine Scholar, and WSET Certified. I started Corks and Cuvee, LLC, in 2014 as a wine lifestyle company providing cellar management consulting services. In 2018, I opened the first Corks and Cuvee retail wine shop and tasting room – Corks and Cuvee Wine and Gift Shoppe.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to entrepreneurship has not always been smooth. The decision to transition out of my established career in corporate America to start my own business was difficult. The process of building of business while still working was also difficult, however, I was very committed to living my dream and treated my business like a part-time job that I had to work everyday. Having the courage to walk away from an established career was not always understood by others, but it wasn’t their dream, it was mine.. So, at times I had to depend solely on myself and my personal drive to keep the dream moving.

Once I actually left my corporate life, I had my heart set specific location for my retail concept that ultimately did not pan out. I was devastated. Trying to find another location, the perfect location, was difficult. I eventually found the right spot and it has been awesome.

Corks and Cuvee – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Corks and Cuvee, LLC, is a wine lifestyle company providing products and services for wine enthusiasts. Corks and Cuvee operates a retail wine shop in Conyers, GA. Corks and Cuvee specializes in wine education, connecting distributors/importers/winemakers to consumers, and introduction to obscure grape varietals. Corks and Cuvee has certified wine professionals on staff to assist our clients with everything from what wine to select, wine pairings, to assisting clients who know absolutely nothing about wine.

I am most proud of putting a retail wine concept in the middle of a community that did not have a boutique wine shop that offered wine tastings and being totally welcomed and now being considered a trusted resource for wine. What sets us apart 1. The level of wine knowledge of the Corks and Cuvee staff and 2. I taste every wine before placed on the Corks and Cuvee shelves.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment thus far was passing the WSET (Wine Spirit Education and Trust) certification level 3. The exam was extremely difficult and required several hours of studying. This exam was the prerequisite for the program. I am currently in WSET Diploma.
