Has it been a smooth road?
This has in no way been a smooth road. My struggles began in my first year as I quickly got stuck working in the business rather than working on the business. It wasn’t until I was referred to the Small Business Development Center that I found some traction. At the SBDC, I was able to attend two Kauffman foundation courses for entrepreneurs in which I was introduced to and coached on writing a business plan for my company.

Shortly after completion of these courses I was introduced to EBV. After attending EBV I saw an increase in my customer base. However, I begun to have financial issues. I accepted an overseas contracting job as a resolve to my financial woes. Before departing to Afghanistan for my new contracting job, I fulfilled a long term goal of moving to GA. Less than a week after moving to GA, I boarded a plane for 18 months as a contractor in Afghanistan. Shortly after returning, I fell seriously ill and was unable to jump right back into business. While battling for my health, I joined a mastermind class under the auspice of Hotelier and Keynote Speaker Larry Broughton. It was during this time while under Larry’s mentorship that I gained the courage to attend business plan competitions where I was awarded a monetary prize as Best Innovative Venture. With guidance and nurturing from Larry Broughton, I wrote and published my first book “DogTags 2 Diamonds” with the assistance of five other female veterans.

It wasn’t until September of 2017 that I actually regained confidence in myself to start doing business in GA.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with American Oil Changers – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are an on-site oil changing company with the modern convenience of us bringing the service to our customers’ location. We conduct oil changes, oil filter replacement, tire rotations, air filter replacement, wiper blade replacement and light bulb replacements.

What I am most proud of as a company is that we are positioning ourselves to hire veterans so that we can continue to serve our country. We are not just hiring our veterans to work alongside of us-if they desire to, we are willing to train them to become business owners as well.

What set us apart from the usual oil change businesses is that we are strictly mobile. We don’t have a brick and mortar for the customer to come to because just as our slogan reads “We bring the change to you (R)”

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I like best about the city is the many opportunities waiting to be explored. If I just had to state a least favorite thing in the city, it would be the aggressive driving.
