Meet Sean Keathley of Adrenaline in Buckhead

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Keathley.

Sean, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Adrenaline was founded in 1998 as a boutique design agency specializing in branding, marketing and design. I took over as President of Adrenaline in 2013 and in 2014, the Adrenaline brand was enhanced to fully encompass all brand touch points, including retail environments and digital signage. We expanded our services because we believe in a brand’s ability to create human connections across all channels, digital or otherwise.

Today, we have a unique set of offerings under one banner that truly is a market niche – experience design. That means that we are always on leading-edge, finding new ways to bring a branded experience to life. We know brands have the ability to have an authentic human connection to people, and our job is to help brands build those real relationships.

We’re headquartered in Atlanta but have offices in Portsmouth, NH and St. Louis, MO, as well. At all of our office locations, we believe in the creative community. Here in Atlanta, we’ve found the city teeming with a vibrant, creative soul. With our growth, we’ve found some of the best talent anywhere in the country. We’re committed to this city and its evolution as a creative hub, and it’s the city’s vitality that has enabled us to grow and give back to this wonderful place we call home. We believe that by hiring more people from the creative schools and community here, our growth trajectory in the Empire of the South is strong.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Since 2014, we’ve been on a rocket ship. I moved my wife and my two boys in 2013 to make our home here in Atlanta. At that time, Adrenaline had a small, boutique office in Sandy Springs. Now, four years later, we have a large office in Buckhead that we’re again bursting at the seams of. In those four years, we’ve made a transition from a boutique creative house to a full-service experience design powerhouse.

With no signs of slowing down, we’ll soon be looking to move again into one of Atlanta’s growing, revitalized neighborhoods – a real gem and the city’s latest success story.

As we augment our team, we continue to focus on the human element that has brought us so much satisfaction and success. The addition of our Creative Director, Ty Wong, really boosted our creative output and helped us attract even more national brands to our roster. We’re also glad to have had a hand in the success of great Southern brands like Second Self. While Ty has the creative chops to enrich our client work, he is a believer in individual team-member development and creative collaboration. As a result, Adrenaline is a fun place to work, where we encourage expression and outside-the-box thinking. We want team members to grow and thrive in an environment that values their unique humanness.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Adrenaline – what should we know?
Adrenaline has established a market niche by creating, shaping and making environmental experiences meaningful for brands and their customers. As a collaborative, multi-disciplinary experience design agency, we translate brands into digital and physical retail experiences. This pioneering approach that orchestrates multiple channels of experiences into a cohesive whole has created a new industry standard. We have our finger on the pulse of emerging technologies, formats, and trends and apply those learnings and insights to every project we tackle.

Our value proposition to customers is the ability to make experiences real, fusing together all the elements of the customer journey. We fill in the gaps between traditional architectural agencies, design consultancies, digital signage companies, exterior signage vendors, and advertising and branding agencies, and create cohesive experiences across every brand channel. Our knowledge of successful implementation of brands and environments informs our front-end strategy to create a meaningful brand experience and guides the process through completion.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My definition of luck is when hard work meets preparation. However, there’s always a component of timing as with everything in life. I think a lot of success at Adrenaline has an exciting timing component.

Whether it’s the timing of our strategic decision to become an experience design agency or the timing to be hiring key talent, we’ve always managed to be in the right place at the right time. I believe much of that is because we know this industry inside-out and can anticipate what clients will need next, then what we’ll develop to deliver on that demand.
