Today we’d like to introduce you to Shamari Alexandria.
Shamari, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Well, it all started with a birthday party! I have a seven years old daughter named Alexandria. On her first birthday in 2013, instead of paying someone to decorate, I decided to do a DIY Minnie Mouse party. The party consisted of Dollar tree supplies and lots of handcrafted decor and balloons but to me it turned out to be a million dollar party! From that point on I knew this was my passion. While I studied in college and worked a corporate job, I continued to practice and study. I didn’t only like the decorating side of things, I loved the planning and coordination as well. I booked small events and little treat tables for the first three years but as I got better, I started to notice my bookings growing and my storage filling so it was time to get serious! I began to ask my husband to help me build props for different themes and I invested in inventory to help me reach new levels in decor and before I knew it, business started to boom! I got so overwhelmed with working a full-time job, with a full-time business, being a full-time mom, and housewife that in 2017 I left my corporate job to pursue my own dreams of being a Full-time event planner. I was so scared during this transition not knowing if everything would pan out how I imagined but I trusted God, prayed, and stayed on the course of growth and challenging myself and it actually turned out to be better than I had imagined! I began to work more doing what I love on a full-time basis!
After two successful years of being my own boss, I hit another growth bump: STORAGE! I had so much decor it was everywhere. I worked out of my garage, with two storage units, a shed, and a room in my home for current event prepping. It was rough! There were some extremely cold days and some burning hot days in that Garage but I do believe that humbling experience was preparing me for much greater levels!
Finally in 2019, my husband and I decided to save & start the search for our own venue! Driving around for months looking for buildings and preparing for a new venture. There were several times that I got discouraged because the process was not easy at all, but we finally found the perfect place for us to open our own beautiful venue. We spent four months renovating a large one roomed warehouse into a beautiful two room event venue and on February 1st we officially opened!
Business is doing well and I’m extremely excited about what God has in store for us next!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This was not a smooth road at all but it was totally worth it. There’s a saying new levels different devils, and I experienced just that!
In the beginning, I faced one of the worst parts of being an entrepreneur: Self-doubt and anxiety. There were times that I was really unsure if this was for me just because of little hiccups along the way but every time, I was reassured that learning and growing was a part of the process.
During my Working in my home phase, it was a huge struggle preparing for events, loading full events into Uhaul truck, traveling to venues, setting up, then having to break down and repeat the process backwards!. Those were some very long days & days for my team and I.
In my transition while finding a building, I could have given up ten times over. I learned lots of patience and understanding during this process and I finally accepted the fact that everything happens exactly when is should happen!

My company’s name is Alexandria’s Style Studio.
We are a Luxury Event & Interior Design company in Jacksonville, Florida.
Our Specialty is Beautiful, Creative, Event designs.
We are most known for our Detailed themes, Attention to detail, and luxury Event props and furniture.
I am most proud of the fact that we stand out in Jacksonville as a One stop shop, friendly, loving service, and affordable pricing.
Not many event venues can offer a one stop shop at the level of luxury we provide. We have a breathtaking venue and our decor style is unheard of here.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood was when I re-arranged my bedroom every week in different ways, decorated my bed and closet with shoes and purses and loved to style my clothes for the next day. I’ve always had a passion for styling & Decor!
