Meet Shamaria Hightower of Pretti Productive Boutique in Lawrenceville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shamaria Hightower.

Shamaria, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I currently serve as an active-duty soldier and the mom to a six-year-old princess. My road to entrepreneurship came by way of getting my best friend on the networking scene. She had just shared with me her business idea a few months prior, and now she needed to get exposure. I knew about a networking event that was taking place so I mentioned to her that we should go. We attended the event and both left feeling so inspired. She was able to network and meet brand new business owners and I left with plans I had not expected.

On our drive home I shared with her the new emotions and excitement I now felt to start my own journey to being my own boss. Being the great friend that she is she advised me to put it all on paper. So I did. With her help and guidance, I have been able to successfully launch my business and have a thorough plan and vision on where I see it going.

Has it been a smooth road?
The initial startup was probably the smoothest part of this journey into entrepreneurship. The need for balance and serious time management came when I fully launched and officially had inventory. I currently serve as a Human Resources Professional in the Army, enrolled in college, and a mom to a beautiful six-year-old princess. So one can imagine how jam-packed my days/weeks are. I say all that so say, some of my struggles have been finding balance and time management.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Pretti Productive Boutique story. Tell us more about the business.
The name of my business is Pretti Productive Boutique. Pretti Productive is an online clothing boutique that specializes in chic style clothing for the “productive woman”. Our idea of the productive woman is a woman that does it all in a sense. She balances a career, manages her home, maintains a fully functional social life, and keeps up with her health (mental and physical) and fitness all while looking good.

The idea behind my business, Pretti Productive Boutique, is to be there for the woman. We, as women, take on a lot; part of it is just in our make up. With keeping the woman in mind Pretti Productive is here to make that one small, yet a huge area of our life, wardrobe, and appearance, that much easier to manage.

We believe in less is more, so the products we provide are simple, timeless pieces that coordinate with ease. Allowing the productive woman less time in her closet and more time taking care of business, still while looking very chic.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next 5-10 years, I see the fashion/retail industry migrating to more online shopping versus brick and mortar. Fashion itself I feel is already repeating itself as far as style/trends.
