Meet Shannon Belletti of Belletti Photography in Douglasville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Belletti.

Shannon, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. I began my career as a graphic designer in the booming software industry, but in my free time I was learning to use a 35mm film camera similar to the one my Dad had while I was growing up. I quickly discovered that I loved photography and ended up returning to school to learn more about it.

In 2004, I relocated to a small village west of London, England and joined Tony Woods at his photography studio there. Over the next few years, I learned the ropes of running and business and was introduced to wedding & portrait photography. I was hooked! When I returned to the States in 2006, I knew that I was destined to start a photography business of my own.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I was very fortunate to have found a mentor early on, so I had a helping hand to learn the ins-and-outs of running a business along with gaining valuable experience with hands-on photography work. So many of my fellow photographers are great with the camera, but being a small business owner requires so much more than that…. I’ve had to learn how to be an accountant, marketing manager, employer, salesperson, and more.

Belletti Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Belletti Photography was founded in 2006 when I moved to Atlanta. Although I specialize in weddings, I’ve been fortunate to branch out to other areas as well, including family portraiture, head shots. commercial work, and most recently, real estate. I love that I never get bored as there’s always something new to do or learn!

In 2007, I won an award for “Best Photographer in Atlanta” by the FOX5 Hot List. Since then, I’ve continued to win other awards for my wedding & portrait work. I’m so honored to be recognized by both the industry as well as my clients, and it makes a job that I love doing even more rewarding.

I think the thing that sets me apart from other photographers is that I embrace being a small business. I have over 12 years of experience in this career now, and I’ve learned that it’s important to not only deliver a quality product, but I want my clients to have an incredible EXPERIENCE working with me as well.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define my own success in a few ways…. Do I enjoy waking up and going to work every day? Do I have a flexible schedule so that I don’t miss out on time with my family? Am I constantly learning something new? Are my clients thrilled with working with me as well their finished products? Finances are important and it’s good to have those bills paid, but it’s extremely important to me that I enjoy my life as I’m living it as well.
