Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawn Denise.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Shawn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
On January 3, 2013, I decided to cultivate PaintbyShawnDenise – Chic Fashion for the Woman with Curves, Sizes 10-32. After years of not finding stylish, detailed – statement looks, I realized my true dream was in fashion and to become a fashion designer. I went out and bought a sewing machine and began teaching myself how to sew by watching YouTube videos. Three months later, I made my first sale!
Within the past six years, I’ve released over 10 Collections! My brand has also appeared on multi runways from New York City to Atlanta. My goal is to have thousands of woman with curves, or plus size woman, #PAINTED in my designs. My brand is chic, colorful and dramatic! I love bold prints and bright stand out colors!
PaintbyShawnDenise is my first brand but will be followed by MSTbyShawnDenie (Men), PAiNTED KiDS, DOPSbyShawnDenise (Shoes & Accessories) & Shawn Denise Home Décor. Stay tuned…
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve had a few entrepreneurial struggles but the main one was discovering who I was as a fashion designer. I studied my craft intensely in 2016 & 2017. I had to create my on a formula for mass production because of #iAmtheFactory! I Design, make all the patterns, and sew each and every item released under my brand. Learning time management as well as project management on this skill, was a challenge.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about PaintbyShawnDenise – what should we know?
PaintbyShawnDenise specializes in Ready to Wear Plus Size Apparel as well as custom apparel for plus size women sizes 10 -32. I’m most proud of the reviews from my clients after they’ve been #PAINTED. Nothing makes me more proud than reading their reviews of how many compliments they received and their excitement to purchase again! I’m also proud of being able to a sellout of certain styles within hours of its release. My clients know to order early or your size may be gone!
What sets my brand apart from other plus size brands is my customer service and six signature colors that exemplify Paint’s love for bold prints and bright colors.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Being understanding of what clients need from me. Clients love that they can message me and talk to me, whether its question about my garments or sizing or what I’m releasing next. I’m an innovator. So, I love creating new concepts to tradition ideas. Innovation is the biggest key to being successful because it allows you to solve a problem that many people didn’t know existed. I love innovation and technology and those two things are very important for me to implement while growing my brand.
