Meet Simone Reid

Today we’d like to introduce you to Simone Reid.

Simone, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started eat_monnie in 2016. I just finished graduate school and I was about to go teach English in Thailand for a year. I originally started the food blog to document the cool and unique foods in Thailand and South East Asia. While in Asia, I took food photo but I was not super dedicated. When I came back to Atlanta to start adulting, I saw the foodie scene and decided to really give being a foodie a try. I love to travel and I have visited over 15 counties. I try to showcase foods from different cultures to hopefully inspire people to try new food and go to new places.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has not been smooth but I noticed if I worked at it and was consistent, I would eventually see results. Honestly, my page still has a lot of growing to do but with perseverance, I was able to get over the first hump.

The struggles are growing a brand and keeping up with content to keep followers engaged. There is a lot of clutter out there, so you really have to be unique and keep people’s attention to stand out.

Please tell us about Eat_monnie.
I have a travel and food website with travel and food guides. I really specialize in international travel and food. I specialize in showing millennial’s international fare at a reasonable price through beautiful carefully curated photos.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have joined influencer groups earlier or reached out to resources (restaurants, pr firms, etc.) sooner! It was a learning process that’s raw and a good learning lesson.
