Meet Synauri Boykin of Sashay’s Sugar Scrubs in Camden

Today we’d like to introduce you to Synauri Boykin.

Sashay’s Sugar Scrubs was birthed from a passion for self-care and economic freedom. Sashay’s Sugar Scrubs was founded by Synauri Boykin, who is an educator and mother of three. Sashay’s Sugar Scrubs offers a variety of products. Many users have reported that the sugar scrubs have reduced acne, produced glowing skin, cleared eczema and blackheads, and softened their skin. For many, using Sashay’s is a way to enjoy a moment of relaxation and rejuvenation. In addition to the body scrubs, there are lip scrubs that remove dead skin from the lips, moisturizing lip balms, facial masks, facial cleansers, and a comprehensive Beard Care line. (I really wanted to increase my tithes and offering to my church when I began my business and God has been blessing Sashay’s Sugar Scrubs ever since). Also, I’m a part of a women’s organization named SRBWI southern Rural Black Women’s Initiative that promotes women and creative talents of rural women to be able to support their families economically while loving themselves and helping with other issues in our community. I have been a part of this group since 2010.

Has it been a smooth road?
No, it has been a lot of trial and error. Still looking for the perfect jar. Running out of space in my kitchen. Not being able to secure funding. It’s a challenge managing work, parenting, and Sashay’s Sugar Scrubs. I need a business coach and some beneficial professional development. It’s been difficult to hold myself accountable and develop realistic and attainable goals for my business. I need a website to reach many ppl, but my I have been hesitant on where to start.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Healthy skin begins with a simple rub of Sashay’s Sugar Scrubs. Sashay’s Sugar Scrubs is known for its infamous Hair butter and Black Magic and Tantalizing Turmeric Scrub. I am most proud of our hair and scalp butter. I created this item for my daughter because no other products worked to stimulate hair growth for her. Her confidence and self-esteem increased and I was one happy mother because my baby was happy. All of my products and handmade with love by me. I have a degree in Biology and minor in Chemistry. I’ve been teaching school for 12 years.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Atlanta is a great city for business even though I’m a small-town girl. The opportunities are relentless in the A.
