Today we’d like to introduce you to TaJuana Blakley.
TaJuana, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I worked at a company for ten years and on my 10th anniversary, they gave me the unexpected opportunity to explore my passion. Since I felt SO unfulfilled there, I decided my next move would be something that fulfilled me. I wanted to make an impact on the world. So, I decided the world needed more peace, and Yoga demonstrates peace, so that would be my tool. And because children are natural agents for change, I resolved that I would teach children yoga. I got certified in June 2015 and have been spreading peace worldwide ever since.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a pretty smooth road and I can’t really complain. I had some very key people in my corner connect me to opportunities that increased business and I was determined to make this work. So, I was very diligent. Of course, there are ups and downs in business, but my mentors helped keep me level headed.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
TinyYogis is a children’s yoga program. We teach kids ages 2-12 how to breathe, stretch, meditate and balance. We use upbeat, hip hop, kid-friendly (adult admired) music to get kids moving aerobically. The music also guides them into different yoga poses. Students learn concepts at a VERY young age and they get it because it’s broken down in a digestible manner. We are proudest of our motto: Creating a Peace Filled Generation. And the fact that in just four short years, we are seeing that happen. TinyYogis has brought peace to over 20,000 children WORLDWIDE!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
YES! Atlanta is still very new to Yoga in general. I still get many adults asking where they can go for their first yoga class. Kids yoga, in general, has not become an over saturated market. And there are many different areas that one can explore. It doesn’t have to become your full-time business. It can be incorporated in whatever you do. Whether you teach at schools, are a nurse in a hospital, are a child care provider, even an executive. You can create space for yourself in this field.
