Meet Talia Lopez of Always Advocating in Braselton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Talia Lopez.

Talia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a dementia specialist gone dementia caregiving coach gone online business coach. I, as some, may call it, am a self-made serial entrepreneur by 20. It all started as a dream I had when I was 14 years old, volunteering at a nursing home. In the six years, I have been a part of the caregiving field, I have seen some pretty harsh things. I saw caregivers and family mistreating those with dementia because they didn’t truly have the patience and the understanding of how to manage dementia.

So, I was on a mission! I volunteered all through high school and worked as a caregiver all through college! I got my degree in social work with a focus on leadership and also became a dementia specialist. I was on a mission to change the world of gerontology and help caregivers care for those with dementia. I had an amazing resume. I graduated early (at 20) and was on my way to becoming the CEO of the Alzheimer’s Association or so I thought. I applied to 74 jobs before I stopped counting. No one wanted to hire a 20-year-old. I had internships, years of experience, double education and I was still left jobless.

I was truly crushed. I did everything right and closed doors were all I was welcomed with. I decided to take a dead-end entry-level job making $12, which was less than I was making in college! When I thought it couldn’t’ get any worse… I got sick. I have severe IBS, what might be Crohn’s, chronic urticaria, and a lot more autoimmune issues. I never let that stop me growing up but during the first month of me working my dead-end job, I was beginning to have flare-ups daily, not allowing me to work. I had to resign and once again, I was jobless.

One day I got the weirdest idea, what if I can take my knowledge online and create online courses to help those with dementia and caregivers. That next month, that’s what I did. I created an online caregiving school for worldwide caregivers. I got it endorsed by other specialists, doctors, gerontologists, nurses, and even those with early-stage dementia. I was able to replace my 9 to 5 income. Start on my healing journey and start falling in love with my life. Women from all over the world were asking me how I did it. They were asking me how to start an online business of their own.

So! After completely my 1st life mission, I decided to start online business coaching and this is what I do full-time today. I help women create a flourishing online business by helping them book clients consistently. I help them fall in love with their business and life. In July, I hit my first 22k sales month at 21 and I am on track to hit six figures by 22.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not even in the slightest! I thought I could just start and grow an online business with a laptop and no marketing or sales experience. It was months before I hired a business coach to help me with mine. I was told I had two options, I could do it myself and it would take 10x as long or I could hire a business coach and get results quicker. Obviously, I took the past of less resistance. It was months before my business made $1. I decided to stop being stubborn and hire someone that could teach me exactly how to market my business so that I can start thriving ASAP. That same month, I hit my first 5k month.

I was so obsessed with learning anything that would help my business grow! I studied, hired coaches, and bought courses to help me with my business, marketing, and sales skills. But two months after I hit my first 5k month, I hit another roadblock. The sales strategies were not working. The marketing strategies were not working and for three months, I made zero dollars in my business. I started doubting my abilities, comparing myself to others, and freaking out. I needed some major mindset work.

That month I hired a manifestation coach and a success coach to help me create a better CEO mindset to help me get unstuck again. Sure enough, not even a month later, I hit a 6k month and it has only been up since there. In order to have a successful business, you need mindset and strategy work in order to really embody your higher CEO self!

Business can be stressful, scary, and inconsistent so it is so very important to invest in yourself to gain the knowledge you need to thrive. Also, having a community you can count on is so helpful as well! I always say… With faith, strategy, and true belief in yourself, anything can happen!

We’d love to hear more about your work.
