Today we’d like to introduce you to Terita Chavis.
Hi Terita, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have been a teacher for Henry County School System for fifteen years. I was inspired to start my business by a young entrepreneur who was subbing. She has a business selling and doing hair. Before the pandemic, so many people of all ages and diversity had taken advantage of the social media trend to start businesses or expose their talent but I never saw that for myself. I never wanted to be in the spotlight. God is so good to send someone across your path to get you on a new path. Although there are a billion people selling clothes, I always say to myself and people “this is me and I love doing this.” Also, my papa said to me one day” you are most happy when you are working your business.”
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The biggest challenge that I have is balancing my time from teaching to working my business. I am content with moving at a pace that does not cause me to stress or panic. When I retire from teaching I will become a full-time entrepreneur until then I am still an effective teacher.
As you know, we’re big fans of KarmelKozie. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
KarmelKozie is a fashion boutique that focuses on everyday comfort yet stylish. I have been in business for only two years so I expect to grow over the next few years and design my own brands.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I am a very moody person but not in a bad sense. It’s actually crazy because one minute I can be shy and the next I can be very bold. I try to always treat people right so I’m not the type of person who likes to be in strife and fighting with others.
