Meet Tia GunZ

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tia GunZ.

Hi Tia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my journey as a three years old dreamer in Seattle, Washington. I would be a part of the church choir and all other sorts of Christian activities as a child. My grandparents raised me from an early age to Love the Lord. My parents would teach me the street life as I grew older. I would participate in local talent shows to test my skills. Years of practice would later pull it all together and eventually lead me to Atlanta.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
At the age of 24, while pursuing my career in NYC, I got pregnant with my first and only child, Florencia Rosemarie. This didn’t slow me down, it only made me strive harder to achieve my goals of success.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am known for my music although I do design formal wear and I’m also an activist which focus is on Native American Rights, African American Equality, and Inner City Youth.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I was three years old and my Uncle Johnny Smith asked myself along with my cousins what we wanted to be when we grow up. I answered very excitedly, “I want to be a singer, actress, model,” and so on. My Uncle also recalls this memory. He says although I was the youngest, I was the only one who could answer. I’m proud to say I have accomplished them all.
