Meet Tobie Famusipe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tobie Famusipe.

Tobie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was interested in acting when I was about 14 years old back in Lagos Nigeria, I used to watch so many American shows such as A-team, SWAT, Superman, Batman, James Bond, Bruce Lee, etc. I always wanted to get into acting but I came from a culture that believes in having a strong education background first, which I ended up pursuing first. After fullfilling what had to be done, I started my chase as an actor by going to acting shool at the Actors Scene acting school in Buford Georgia, After three years of aggressive training I auditioned for agents and landed my first role in Marvels Antman as a featured extra, after that I’ve starred and co starred in multiple projects totaling over 40 films and series. In the midst of this, I have accumulated multiple awards for my performance and most recently winning the RICE awards for film and photography. I’m currently pitching a TV series called Atlanta Takedown in addtion to writing and written multiple projects that I will be starring and producing in starting in 2020. I have a small company called T2 Productions and I will be collaborating with several filmakers to bring these projects to life soon.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t been smooth at all but there are experiences to remember, part of the struggles is trusting people and not being sure if the people around you are in this with you for themselves or for the actual project. It is difficult and challenging to trust in this business, people have to prove themselves in order to build trust,

Another struggle is betrayals from people you trust or trusted, there have been situations I had with people I trusted literally like family and beause of jealousy or hating on you because you are succeeding they turn on you. Which negates the whole purpose of teamwork, friendship and of course family.

Another part of struggles in this industry is finding funds to develop your projects, I for one had to pay out of my pocket for some of my projects to move forward with a little helpm from sponsors but some bills still had to be paid from out of pocket (my pocket to be excact)

One final piece of struggles which I have observed is if you are not part of a click or group in this industry they will isolate you like you don’t exist and they will not support you when you have things going on or you just accomplish something and you share with others like my close friend Monei Sutton says “FAKE ISTHE NEW REAL AND I DON”T FIT IN’ and I’m ok with that and I believe in that.

Please tell us about your business.
Well, I own a small company call T2 Productions and we produce content and produce projects for film and television. We are proud of our project Atlanta Takedown which we are still pitching. What sets us apart is the fact that we are in the business of seeing actors and actresses succeed with no jealousy. We help all actors and even production people behind the camera. “THERE IS PLENTY OF ROOM AT THE TOP”

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Don’t trust people out of the gate till they prove themselves otherwise. Not everyone is happy about how you are succeeding.

Be more vocal and state what your expectations are so there is no confusion,

In certain situations, you cannot always be subtle; you have to be assertive at all times.
