Meet Tracy Reddick of Downtown Decatur Food Tours in Decatur

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy Reddick.

Tracy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My two favorite passions are entertaining guests and cooking. Operating a food tour gives me the opportunity to entertain guests while someone else does the cooking. Better yet, I don’t even have to do the dishes!

I love how food brings people together and the joy I see on their faces when they eat great food.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With any new business there are always challenges. It can be difficult when you have no proven track record and you are trying to convince business owners to take a chance you. In essence, what you do has an impact on their brand and rightly so. There were quite a few no’s in the beginning. However, I was persistent and it paid off. The partners that I have now recognize the growth my business has made and they are very supportive.

Please tell us about Downtown Decatur Food Tours.
Downtown Decatur Food Tours provides guided food tasting & cultural walking tours. The tours are fun and engaging and all of the tasting are delicious! You will enjoy a 3 hour stroll through Decatur while sampling some of the city’s authentic international cuisine. We focus on unique and exotic tastings that use the finest quality of ingredients. We are proud to offer an excursion from the seriousness and business of life that is not only a food tour and history lesson, but also a contest and scavenger hunt!

You will also enjoy a presentation entitled “Oil and Vinegar is Not Just for Salad” – a very interesting education on the uses of olive oil and vinegar.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My grandmother, MaDear was a professional cook. Spending Saturday afternoons at her house with my cousins brings back fond memories. After playing all day, we would all enjoy some amazing meals together.
