Meet Trailblazer Stormi Steele

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stormi Steele.

Stormi, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Hi! At one of the lowest times in my life when I was in college in 2010, I had a dream that was really vivid, in my dream the name of my business and my mission statement was revealed to me. I ended up dropping out of college with a 3.7 GPA and 23 credit hrs left to going to cosmetology schools pursue that dream of becoming a cosmetologist. Literally, everyone thought I was crazy but within a year, I became a 6figure stylist and owned my own salon. However, my biggest accomplishments happened within the last year. In August 2018, I took another leap of faith and stepped away from the chair as a stylist and switched my brand to 100% e-commerce with the launch of my hair care product line. Within 11 months, I had built a million-dollar company solely from my product line and online sales. Now, I only do hair for free as a way to give back. My goal is to be on shelves in all the big box store like Target, Walmart, and Sally’s in 2020 and help other aspiring businesswomen through my Non-Profit “The Dream Girl Society.”

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, it hasn’t been easy, but my favorite quote is GET COMFORTABLE WITH BEING UNCOMFORTABLE. And I always say use what you have, because it HAS to be enough because if you needed more, God would have given it to you. The biggest struggle I faced was learning that what I felt in my spirit was right no matter how others felt about the decision. My ability to always focus on the good in all situations has been what has propelled me and allowed me to gain momentum.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about CANVAS BEAUTY BRAND – what should we know?
I’m most known for more heart 💕, but seriously my products. I created a product CANVAS HAIR GROWTH SERUM that has helped with hair loss due to chemo, lupus, and alopecia. Even when doctors and dermatologist say a person’s hair won’t grow back my products work for them. And it just overall, increases the health of hair for everyone and who doesn’t want healthier hair? I’d say I’m most known for my heart and spirit as well because as people learn about my journey, they also learn that I put God first in everything and I love to teach and give knowledge to the people who need that confirmation and it never goes unnoticed. Often times, people look to me for just motivation and inspiration and I’m thankful to be able to provide that for them as well.

So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well-positioned for?
The future is female. And I think that’s a beautiful thing. More women are stepping into leadership positions and building huge multimillion-dollar companies. Thanks to social media and various platforms we are able to strive in this era like never before.
