Today we’d like to introduce you to Tabatha Crosby, First Lady.
Tabatha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have a heart of gold and enjoy helping and making people smile so I have always been in the medical field and helping elder people and children so when I moved to Atlanta, I wanted to continue doing the same things but in a more purposeful way and so I was battling between my why and my fears, so I began to search within myself who I really was and needed to find my WHY. So, I created me a WAR room so that I could talk to God and also battle things that I had been going through mentally and God began to speak to me and reveal my purpose and that was speaking, but prior to that, I had wrote a book that was something that I always wanted to do and I did that and at that time I didn’t know that was part of my why that God had planned for me. So, I wrote my first book and in my War Room God revealed to me that he did not want me to just write about drugs, sex and crime, but he wanted me to write about my journey and ways that I can help others so I listened and now I am working on speaking to the youth and battered women. I feel I have a story to tell that many can relate to.
Has it been a smooth road?
In my journey, it hasn’t been smooth and one thing that made me who I am today and why I want to speak is doing this journey I was homeless with my daughter living in a city with no family and trying to understand why all the doors that kept closing on me and just trying to survive. I moved to Atlanta three years ago to be in a relationship with this guy so I uprooted my daughter and came to Atlanta. The day that I got here to move in with my boyfriend, I find out he is married and his wife is at the house moving out so that was terrible and then the abuse that came along with that so I moved into my own place two months later and survived that situation and got a great job that was paying me very good so two years later I was in a car accident and it went downhill from there. I lost my job and was forced to live in my car. I empty out my 401k and build my credit and bought me a beautiful 4 bedroom 3 ½ bath 2 car garage home. It was a very tough road at that time but remained focused. I will say stay focus and trust in God and try and have a support system.
We’d love to hear more about First Lady Speaks LLC.
I am a Writer, Publisher, and Speaker. Right now I’m working on my second book called First Lady Speaks. What sets me apart from others are along my journey I know what it feels to be in an abusive relationship, but I made it, I know how it feels to be dying and come out of surgery to tell a story how a 17lbs tumor was growing inside my body and to survive to tell that story, I know how it feels to be homeless and come out of it to be a homeowner, I know how it feels to be battered by a man and to get out to tell other women it’s not too late, I know how it feels to have your family to turn their back on you so I am First Lady Speaks with a story to tell.
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
Never give up. You will face hurdles but keep going. Your driver seat isn’t meant for any passengers to go to your next level with you. Find your why and stick to it. The grave yard is the richest place because so many people die with their dreams and passion in their mind because they are either too scared to go and do it or they just kept wishing for something they always wanted, so I tell anyone nothing is worth having if it comes too easy and anything that comes easy is not worth having.
