Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Davis.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My story is interesting and more so a testimony, honestly. When I was 21 years old, I started as an artist manager out of my college apartment at UWG. I always believed music & entertainment was my passion, and although I was a great manager I soon realized the dark parts of it. I stepped away and got into Marketing. I began working for large companies, managing their Marketing departments. I started at Cadillac as Marketing Manager, and from there went on to manage large cosmetic dental groups. Even though that was the lane I had chose, I honestly hated working for companies. I wanted my own– I knew that I was created to lead and build my own.
Rewind a few years earlier, I unexpectedly got pregnant while at Cadillac and was fired for that very reason. I was devastated. I told myself no one would ever have that type of power over me again. And although I continued to work in Marketing, my goal never changed. So, I began sitting in work meetings, not only paying attention to my role but I watched the OWNER’s role. I studied the numbers, I watched how he delegated, his boldness and discipline, I learned about setting financial targets, budgeting, profit margins, etc. I studied with my boss. But simultaneously, I hated my job. After about a year, with a 2-year-old baby, I had to dig deep into prayer and ask for guidance and help. I took one hell of a leap of faith, left that company and started consulting independently. Whew, it was so rough! I was beyond stressed and had limited income. But I was GOOD at helping my clients, so I always had money coming. It just wasn’t enough. I was a new business owner, with a toddler, single mother, I worked from home, & I didn’t even have a vehicle at one point. And with all of that, I didn’t complain. I prayed from sun up to sun down, for nearly 2 years.
There was a company I started looking into that helped me pick up a little weight while I was going through my transition. And it worked so well I decided to research it more. Before you know it, I was writing a marketing plan for my own product–NutriThick. I prayed it over (when I say pray, I mean I prayed the heavens down for days), and spoke with a former client of mine (never even met him personally, or knew what he looked like) who I thought would be interested in it. To my surprise, not only was he interested, but wanted to be a silent partner and believed that I could turn it into a multi-million dollar business. He was so impressed with my work ethic and ability to generate, he invested over 20k into my startup, just like that. Only God could do that. Three months later, my business had already made six figures.
This is my two year anniversary and I give all glory to God. He has totally changed my life. Although there are more pieces to my story, I hope it encourages that single mother, or person going through a life crisis. I’ve learned that no matter what adversity you experience, there’s nothing faith can’t deliver you from. I could teach about Business and Marketing anywhere in the world because I went through the mud to learn. I became a sponge and studied while I waited. I wanted to be an entrepreneur, so I learned from the entrepreneurs that I worked for. School can’t teach you that. I was faithful with the little. I didn’t let fear consume me. And when I knew I needed help, I humbled myself and prayed. God sent me help.
I’m super proud of my success and the future of Nutrithick. We help women (and even men) around the world reach their health and weight goals. We also birthed SweatBands, a fitness waist trimmer that slims the midsection for a more tight and curvier physique. I am looking forward to the next 20 years and extremely grateful for every single customer!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It was the hardest journey for me, honestly. And even now, it’s easier but still to whom much is given much more is required. So, the work never ends.
To women, single mothers, aspiring entrepreneurs: stop looking at the world and look at who you are. Get to know who you are, listen to your spirit and be honest about what you are built for. Purpose does not come in a handbook, it is found through the experiences of life.
It gets hard, I’ve had days I didn’t know how I would feed my son but he’s also never missed a meal. And in those hard moments, I discovered exactly who I was. A fierce, low key beast who can live without anything and come out with everything.
Don’t ever give up.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Apart from being a Brand Manager, I own @Nutrithick Inc and @TheSweatBands
We are one of the leading supplement brands for weight gain and building a curvier figure.
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
Be patient with yourself. Life is not easy, and everyone has a unique story and path. Don’t compare yourself and don’t covet your neighbor. You have no idea what God has asked of them. Instead, pray and focus on the gem of a person you are. There is no error in being your best self.
