Meet Vahnesa Jourdan of Vahnesa’s View in Marietta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vahnesa Jourdan.

Vahnesa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In college, I interned for a magazine in Atlanta, and one of my primary tasks was to coordinate meetings and events. I knew nothing about securing sponsors or sending out media invites. These are just a couple of the many things involved in the planning activities.

My original plan was leading me in the direction of Public Relations, but Event Planning won me over especially after I was able to witness the joy on a client’s face. Through the internship, I was able to gain new skills in the planning industry, and I created relationships with many businesses.

After graduating, I started my Lifestyle Blog, Vahnesa’s View, as a foundation to whatever I would be doing in the future. I didn’t have a set plan. Even when Vahnesa’s View first started attracting support I didn’t feel like it was everything I wanted it to be, so I included an Event Planning section on my website to get back to what I love, and the rest is history.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has been everything except smooth. My plans are altered all the time. I’m not the girl who has always had a career plan for her life. I just knew that I was going to get my college degree and I wanted to live well. Earlier in my journey, I had to deal with lack of acceptance of my business route from my parents because in their words, “you will make more money and live better if you’re in the medical field.”

I’m happy to report that my parents see how happy Vahnesa’s View makes and support me in my journey. My most recent bump in the road was getting fired from my first corporate job after college. I was devastated because my job was the way I could support my business and tackle some financial burdens.

My first year of Vahnesa’s View didn’t generate any money, so I was nervous about how long I could keep my business/blog running with my savings. I’ve been unemployed for five months, and the focus I’ve been able to put on my business has given me more time to collaborate with other creatives and gain new clients. Corporate may not have worked out, but Vahnesa’s View sure is.

Please tell us about Vahnesa’s View.
Vahnesa’s View doubles as a Lifestyle Blog and Event Planning Service. My blog is an all-access pass to my life. Through my blog, I also created a podcast and YouTube channel.

The goal of my blog is to encourage people to embrace every part of who they are. I want people to share their truth and not be ashamed or embarrassed.

Event Planning is my first love. I plan showers, birthday parties, fundraising events, grand openings, and so much more. I am known for turning my clients’ details and deadlines into pure magic.

I will replace any planning stress with excitement, and I work well with budgets. I am proud of how far Vahnesa’s View has come with only being in operation for less than two years. It’s only up from here.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Most people don’t know I can sing and when I was little, I used to sing for my dad all the time. When I was younger and still to this day my dad has always said that I will be a star.

At that time he may have meant a singing star, but I think he said it enough for it to come true in the industry I’m in now. Thank you, dad!
