Meet Whitney Suber of The Eikon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Suber.

Whitney, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Year 2013, I told my mom “Hey, I’m ready to leave my comfort zone and follow my dreams.” After doing only a year in college studying graphic design and media, I took a leap out on faith and moved from Kansas City, Missouri to Atlanta with my Auntie who helped me transition. I became more outgoing, more positive, and motivated. Moving to Atlanta made me move different and think different. I became more aware of the type of people I wanted to associate myself with. Every time I left the house, I would network with many different people, which helped me also further and open doors to my modeling dreams. I’ve been blessed to be featured in multiple magazines with multiple page spreads including Sheen magazine, Elegant magazine, OTC magazine, plus a few others!

I even got a chance to be the face for well-known hair care line Ampro Pro Styl and also featured on Vogue Italia’s website under their photovogue section. Throughout the years in between modeling gigs and working my 9-5, I always brainstormed my future. I wanted to own business! So I researched and researched til I found my niche! That’s when “The Eikon LLC” was born. Initially, it started from a personal logo of mines I was using to trademark myself which are red lips with gap teeth. For me, it symbolized who I was, who I will always be, unique and confident. So I said to myself why not let this be MY mark and share it with the world. I wanted people to have something to relate to, I wanted people to embrace their flaws and all. I wanted people to feel rare and exclusive when they purchased from me. So I implemented all my creativity and ideas into a home decor and apparel brand.

Has it been a smooth road?
My journey with The Eikon has been nothing but a learning curve. Prior, I felt like even though I did so much research months before launching my online business, I still find myself learning along the way. Which I’m grateful for because It allows me to appreciate & enjoy the process! I enjoy creating visuals and photo shoots. So far I’ve shot them all out of my living room. Nonetheless, I treat it like my art; exercising my creativity playing with different patterns and colors, allowing my product to stand out.

I always keep myself educated and optimistic, whether its learning ways to keep shipping cost low as possible to keeping up with social media content to finding more ways to get my brand out, planning ahead, budgeting and lastly having a life/work balance. I’d say my journey is where it should be; it’s only the beginning.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Eikon – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am the CEO of The Eikon; Home Decor and Apparel Brand.

Currently specializing in pillow covers for the home, and apparel wear for women, men and soon children! My signature product is our 18×18 “Lucki Gap” pillow cover with the signature lip logo.

I came up with the name Eikon from the spelling of the Latin/Greek translation of the word ICON. I felt this word describes my logo perfect and how I want my brand to develop.

I wanted the name to reflect how I want my customers to feel; ICONIC. To inspire one to be bold.

My lip logo represents more than just a cute image. The timeless red lips are an expression of confidence. The Gap; luck and wisdom. The goal for my brand, The Eikon is to celebrate people who are proud to be different. Loving one’s imperfections and recognizing your unique God-given talent/s.

I feel that my authenticity separates me from most. My lip logo is not only relatable to myself but worldwide; everyone knows someone with a gap in between their two front teeth! I design all of my products so everything you purchase from me will not just be a duplicate from another company purchasing in bulk. My logos are timeless I can cater to a very large audience men, women, and children.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I like most about Atlanta is the market for black business owners. Atlanta made me mature quicker in a good way. I love attending events here and meeting new people with different goals and ambition. I love that it’s growing with endless opportunities.

What I like least about Atlanta is definitely the TRAFFIC and the potholes downtown!

    Well I think it’s a good thing what she has accomplished and creating. Which is confidence to black women and men, no matter your flaws, she is saying you are unique! Isn’t that what you want to be? Bravo!!! to the Eikon brand.
