Meet Wilonda Previlon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wilonda Previlon.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Wilonda. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Long story short, I started off making Youtube videos right out of high school back in 2012. I started off doing natural hair, makeup, and fashion video that are affordable for college students. I grew that as a hobby for a while, not intentionally seeking it as a full-time career. I went to the Dental Assistant School. Worked as an Orthodontist Assistant for about two years. While going to school and working, I stayed consistent with uploading videos on both Youtube and Instagram. Once I realized that YouTube has definitely changed, I started to focus more on IG, and plus, I was working full time and going to school, it was harder for me to make videos for YouTube, so I switched my main focus on IG and was more consistent with that platform. As my following grew, and I was getting contacted by major companies for collaborations, I made a decision to leave the dental field (which I loved very much) and make digital content creating my full-time job. As soon as I did that, I was hungry to grow and expand more, so I decided to move to ATL from Orlando, FL back in October 2018. Currently, I am a full-time social media digital content creator (I do not like using the word influencer anymore), an actress, and model.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, I have truly been blessed with my path to where I am now. I just “did”. I didn’t really stress out about many things during the process. I just “did” my videos and “took” my pictures. I wanted my journey to be very authentic and stress-free. I was not stressing about my number counts on my platforms, I was not trying to connect with “big” influencers in order to use their platforms to gain followers, I was not trying to get involved in drama so people can recognize me. I was mad chill through the entire process. I just “did” what I loved to do and let God handle the rest. As I said, my main path was to be in the dental field, a Dental Hygienist to be exact, so I wasn’t stressed out about my “hobby” at the time. I am not going to sit up here an lie to you and say I went through some things to get to where I am, because I did not. My mother was very supportive of EVERYTHING I did and has always been my #1 cheerleader. So, I also think that is why it was such smooth sailing for me. When you have someone on your side that is constantly encouraging and uplifting you, it makes the road just as smooth to ride on. When I tell you, this literally “just happened” and I cannot thank anyone, but God.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Yes, I am a.k.a. @imported_chocolate on Instagram, and wilondaimported on YouTube. I am a social media digital content creator, where I create content for brands on my platform. My genre/topics are beauty, hair, makeup, fashion, fitness, and lifestyle. I post pictures of OOTDs, what new products that are out I am currently loving, different hairstyles, how I keep my shape/figure, events I attend, etc.

I am also the owner of an activewear line, Damis Activewear, where I supply super comfortable workout gears that I custom designed myself.

What I am most proud of as a company is that I did not step on someone else’s head in order for me to grow. I take full pride in that because nowadays everyone wants “clout” and will do just about anything in order for them to receive that attention they desire, and it is extremely disgusting. I can honestly say throughout my journey, I stayed in my own lane and rode at my own speed.

What sets me apart from others? My vibe. You may think you “know” the people you are following, but you really don’t “know them” “know them” and how they REALLY act off the web. I am genuinely a dope person in-person. I like the saying “I’m doper offline”, which is the truth. I’m mad chill and love to be around people and spark conversations. I want to know experiences people have had in life. I am the type of person that will ask you more questions about yourself instead of me talking about myself and what I do. Promise, just hang around me, and you’ll start thinking “Man, there is something different about this chick”.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Wow, ummm… I have moved a lot during my childhood because my dad was in the Navy. So, my favorite memory now (because I despised it when I was younger) is finding out where we will be moving to. We moved every three to four years to a whole new city and/or sometimes state. So, being that I was not stationary in one spot for so long and I was not able to really let my environment define who I became, that is what makes me who I am today.

So, my favorite memory is finding out where I will be moving next, and starting all over again with friends, and areas.
