Today we’d like to introduce you to Briana Alexander.
Hi Briana, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The WRKSHP started off as an idea for a streetwear brand. As more time passed on and more research was done, I wanted to do something that I could really use all of my creative gifts towards but that wouldn’t set me back finically as far as production. Fast forward to the pandemic. I was furloughed from my job at H&M and after much contemplation and hesitancy, I decided to launch the WRKSHP as a party decor business specializing in luxe balloon art and custom crafts. We had humble beginnings that started out as me doing favors for really good friends. They would ask me to decorate their baby showers or baby’s birthday parties and I always put my all into it because I genuinely enjoyed it. Once my job let us go and I exhausted all of my vacation time, I decided to try this art full time until I was able to find another job. I would literally watch YouTube videos all day on balloon art and the best techniques to use. After much practice and much failure, I dove right in.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road at all! I have yet to consistently attain my target clientele and that does get discouraging. However, I still keep going. I would say my biggest struggle has been finding those clients that respect the work and time it takes to create the beautiful setups we do.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The WRKSHP currently focuses most on luxe balloon art. In addition to that, we also specialize in custom acrylic signs, social media signs and custom centerpieces. I am most proud of the progression of our balloon art. We try to keep our setups completely organic, never duplicating a previous project. We LOVE a vibrant color palette! I believe the combination of services is what sets us apart. Not only can we provide your balloon art, but we can also provide your welcome sign, seating chart and even table decor.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
