Rising Stars: Meet Diamond Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diamond Williams.

Hi Diamond, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started out by making treats/party favors in 2012 after I had my daughter. I used to make suckers, pretzels, Oreos and Rice Krispies using chocolate and sprinkles. I began making favors for family members as well. It was a hobby until 2020 when the pandemic hit. During the pandemic, when the world was shut down, a family friend reached out to me about making treats for a wedding. After making a whole table spread, I got calls for more events. This is when I decided to order supplies and invest in myself. I would stay up until 3am to watch tutorials on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. I paid hundreds of dollars to join classes on Facebook. I would practice new techniques and recipes in my spare time. This is how I got to where I am today! I am so very proud of my growth.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to my success was not easy. Starting a business during a pandemic while the world was shut down was pretty hard. It took a while to make back the money that I had invested. I had to improvise often during this time because supplies took longer than ever to come in since a lot of stores were closed. I would say that was the hardest part. Now that the world is trying to get back to normal, I can say that it has become much smoother. Most of my customers are coworkers of mine. During the week, I teach at an alternative school. I bring samples often and I’m always bring a delicious dish for pot luck. My coworkers love when I walk through the door with a box in my hand and my treats are always the first to go.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I make treats and cakes for all occasions such as parties, weddings, game nights, etc. I specialize in all sweets from brownies and cheesecakes to chocolate-covered strawberries and cupcakes. I am known for my moist cakes and beautiful treats. I am most proud of my cakes because it was something that I wanted to add to the menu to be a one-stop shop. I want my customers to get everything from me so I offer convenient packages with everything included or you can build your own package with the items you want. I think this sets me apart from others because most people offer one or the other. It’s either the cake or the treats but never everything in one.

Any big plans?
In the future, I want to expand all over Georgia. Right now, I have repeated customers and people that heard of me through word of mouth. I want to get my name/brand out there for the whole world to see. I wish to one day be able to sell my treats in stores as well! My biggest goal of all is to get a storefront one day but I have to build the clientele before jumping into it.
