Rising Stars: Meet Kirklyn Malone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirklyn Malone.

Hi Kirklyn, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started out as a dancer and knew that professional dance was going to be my career path after college. I did, however, have a backup plan since I knew the career span of a dancer’s life is usually pretty short. From growing up in the dance field, makeup was always something I enjoyed and came to be pretty good at from all the years of practice. I decided that once dance took more of a backseat role in my life, I would pursue a career in makeup. I wasn’t too sure what exactly I wanted to do with makeup yet, but I knew that It would be a career I would enjoy and could utilize my talent well. After one contract of professionally dancing for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, I decided that it wasn’t the lifestyle I wanted for myself over the next half-decade. It was at this time that I began thinking of what I wanted a career in long-term.

Before I had left for my dance contract, I had my eyebrows microbladed so that I could have a low-maintenance beauty routine and could spend my days on the beach instead of filling in my eyebrows. I became so fascinated with microblading and how just a simple procedure lifted my confidence so much. When I was mindlessly scrolling through Instagram one day on the ship, I came across a post that my microblading artist was teaching/certifying other women in the art a month after my contract was over, and I immediately signed up. I thought, “why not?” I took a leap of faith and went into the class with a dream of being my own boss and doing something I was already so passionate about. I never even gave myself the chance to doubt if this was something I was capable of; from day one I believed in myself. With the support, help, and trust of family, friends, and clients, and the relentless push to keep going no matter what the odds, I created ARCHitect Brow Studio LLC. Even a global pandemic couldn’t stop me!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest obstacle ARCHitect Brow Studio has faced so far is the global pandemic and two-month shutdown. 2020 was my first full calendar year, and right around the time the shutdown was announced was around the time my business really began to pick up speed. I was finally at the place where I was getting calls and bookings everyday. When I had to shut down for those two months, I wasn’t sure where my business would be on the other side of it. I wondered if I would have to start over as a brand new business or how long it would take to get to the place I was just before the shutdown. Thankfully, business was never better after the shutdown was over, and I was blessed to be able to get back to work full speed ahead.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Cosmetic Tattooist specializing in Microblading and Powder Brows. I also house organic spray tans in my salon and mobile sprays tan appointments when requested. Just recently, I have added certification classes so that I can encourage women to take the leap of faith and invest in this abundant industry. I am most proud of my courage and using that to pave a path of my own.

I believe what sets me apart from others is my relationship with my clients. My goal is to make them feel overwhelmingly welcome in my salon, to gain their trust, and to make them feel like they are a part of my family. It’s easier to trust someone with your face when you can trust them with so much more.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was always a more creative individual, school definitely did not come easy for me. I’ve always had an imaginative mind and a love for the arts.
