Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Jennings.
Amanda, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up, I’ve always been active. Whether it was dancing and singing or just engaging in fun sports with friends. I initially started working out in a gym setting since the age of sixteen. My father’s good friend (Michael Maisonet) was in the gym a lot and he had started to train me and three of my sisters. I realized at that age, that it was something I would always do. It just became a part of my everyday life. Through the years, I’d trained consistently with my trainer Mike and started to become more interested in transforming the human body from a trainers aspect. I would receive so many compliments and inquiries in regards to my training and I really wanted to coach and help these people reach the goals they had for themselves.
When I had my first child (my daughter Halo), I was so determined to get back in shape. I remember years ago after my mother gave birth to my youngest sister she was so determined to get the weight back off. Through cardiovascular training and following at home workout videos, she was able to achieve her goal. I took on a similar role and just four months after baby, I was pretty much back to my pre-baby weight. This caused the inquiries for my training to be at an all-time high. That’s when it hit me and I said to myself “Im
going to go to school and get my certification so that I can really help people reach their fitness goals!” With the support of my now husband (Marcus Jennings), I was able to drop everything and enroll in the National Personal Training Institute and graduate at the top of my class! I also received a certificate in nutrition
consulting. I created my own platform and named my company Slayy Body Fitness. I’ve had great support from a lot of people including my family and friends coming out to my bootcamps and booking me for one on one training sessions. I also landed a job at an Athletic Club in Buckhead Atlanta as a bootcamp instructor.
Earlier this year, I welcomed my second child and through my own custom workout and meal plans, I was able to successfully lose 41 pounds in four months. That inspired to create a special workout plan geared towards the mothers/new moms ready to get their bodies back the Slayy way.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road to becoming a personal trainer definitely hasn’t been smooth sailing. It takes a lot of discipline and patience when comes to being a trainer. One of my struggles in the beginning of this process was definitely finding the time to train myself after baby and start a business. I’m also not one to make excuses, so I created many at home workout routines. Finding the right name and logo was a challenge as well. It was also a balancing act with scheduling clients and being a new mom.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Slayy Body Fitness – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Slayy Body Fitness is my company for personal training services. I train clients in home and gym settings, women and men all ages. I specialize in weight loss and weight training and creating meal plans for the women looking to transform their bodies especially after baby. I’m proud of the growth of my company. Slayy Body Fitness started from having boot camp in my backyard to instructing boot camps in Buckhead. There are a lot of great trainers in Atlanta that train both women and men of all ages. I take pride in being one that does that and strictly having a workout/lifestyle plan that’s geared towards those new/moms and mothers ready to get their bodies back and better than ever!
