Today we’d like to introduce you to Vince B. Aries.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I first got my start in 2010 when I interned for Grammy nominated singer Syleena Johnson. Through that opportunity, I was able to travel, make connections, and learn more about the industry in the process. My love and passion for all things entertainment based has been inside me since a child. Since 2010, I’ve been able to gain experience by working with Anita Wilson, Vashawn Mitchell, Kenya Moore, SWV, TS Madison, Tamar Braxton, and many more. Born and raised in Chicago, I learned to work hard and dream big. Dreaming big led me to Atlanta in March of 2108 after spending 30 years in Chicago. Prior to moving, I worked the red carpet premiere of FX’s show “Snowfall” with my mentor Catrice Armstrong. At the premiere, I assisted Michelle Hayes and an Emmy-Award winner, Rubye Lane to their seats not knowing that in a couple of months we would soon cross paths again.
In August 2018, while on lunch in Midtown I heard a familiar voice yell “Vincent” from a car passing by. Inside the car was both Michelle Hayes and Rubye Lane. After briefly speaking, we set up a meeting about me working for Hayes Talent Agency as an Atlanta Agent. It’s true when they say you never know who you’ll meet on your journey through life. It’s also important to be nice and leave a lasting impression because that one impression could be the potential set up for your future. After meeting with Michelle on August 28, 2018, I began working with Hayes Talent Agency to help run the Atlanta office since Michelle oversees the office in Chicago. The years of preparation, learning, and dreaming big have gotten me to where I am today. All of these things plus more will take me further on my journey here in Atlanta and beyond. I look at everything as a step in the right direction of what is my destiny. No matter how little or big the step is, it’s a step I gladly take to where I am headed.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My overall journey has not been a smooth road. Along the road there are the struggles of doubting yourself, wondering will it happen, and at times being stuck in cruise control. There have been several times I’ve doubted if my dream would come true because things weren’t moving at the pace I desired. Drifting on by at the same speed in cruise control as I call it and not making any major moves. The road only started to become smooth when I decided to step outside my comfort zone to change the road I was taking. Making the decision to move from Chicago to Atlanta changed the road. Had I not done that, I wouldn’t have met Michelle that day. Approaching my mentor at Brunch in December 2016 also helped pave a smooth road for me. The days I’ve decided to take the smooth routes, my rides have been less bumpy.
Hayes Talent Agency – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Hayes Talent Agency is a boutique agency representing adults and children for TV, film, commercials, voice over, theater and print. We have a very diverse roster with an emphasis on representing multicultural talent. We work closely with our clients to help foster an enduring career in this business. We provide them with the necessary tools to become a thriving actor or model.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is living out your dreams. Success is trying and never giving up no matter how hard the road is. I’ve learned over the years, you can’t compare your journey or success to that of others. For me, moving to Atlanta was a success, along with working at Hayes, interning over the years, booking clients for television, and preparing for my future. Success is defined ONLY by you. The things I’ve accomplished may not be seen as a success for others, but for me, I’m not only successful but truly happy.
