Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Adele Williams.
Tammy Adele, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My Mom is the inspiration behind much of what I do. I saw her work hard at a job she hated to owning her own business. Through her experiences, it taught me the importance of time – my own time and appreciating others, the need to love what you do as well as understanding the option of entrepreneurship. “Tammy Williams became the first black woman to own her own studio and post-production facility in the state of Georgia.” This is the title that was so graciously given to me a few years ago. However, it’s wasn’t something that I set out to do. The goal was to create a space that would be helpful to our company and other creatives. Purpose is never just for you-it’s for others as well. Here’s a portion of my bio: Tammy Williams has worked in the tv/film production industry for over 30 years. She has a diverse writing and producing portfolio which includes: biographies, documentaries, entertainment, and network news.
Having majored in Mass Communications/Radio & Television Production, her career in television began directly after college as an editor in news at WTVF-‐CBS in Nashville, TN. She started writing and producing short-form promos and commercials at WRCB-‐NBC in Chattanooga, TN and then expanded to long-formatted documentaries and live shows at WDSU-‐NBC, New Orleans, LA. Tammy established Tammy’Dele Films in 2016-‐a film, television, and digital production company. She wrote and directed the documentary feature, “Free to Dance” and made her feature directorial debut with, “The Chronicles of Ernie & Cerbie.” She’s written and produced biographies on sports figures like Alonzo Mourning, musical greats such as Gamble & Huff and business executive Ed Welburn. Her most inspirational interviews were with Motown’s Berry Gordy and Russell Simmons. She’s worked with ABC Entertainment, the CW network, and others. Tammy Williams became the first black woman to own her own studio and post-production facility in the state of Georgia. She launched her Job Training and workshop academy in 2012, which provided hands-on training in the film/tv industry. In 2014, she launched a Production Assistant Training Program.
Now, Tammy’Dele Films Job Training & Workshops include over 14 various job training workshops. Alumni have worked on feature films such as Black Panther, Avengers, Godzilla, Shaft and more. Former students have worked on television series such as The Walking Dead, Vampire Diaries, Star, various Tyler Perry Productions, indie films, and national commercials. She launched a Motion Picture Career and Education Expo in the state of Georgia—Cinema South Motion Picture Career & Education Expo—to provide opportunities and educate the community on the film industry. She is also known for her program PA Underground, which is an educational-networking event as well as Cinema Next- where Tammy and her colleagues in the industry adopt a low performing school and provide film training. She was featured on Black Enterprises’, “Our World” television show. Tammy was also featured on Tom Joyner’s “Little Known Black History Facts.”She was selected as Fayette Woman in February 2016 and graced the magazine cover. She is an Award-Winning Producer, Motivational Speaker, and CEO.
Has it been a smooth road?

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Tammy’Dele Films story. Tell us more about the business.
Tammy’Dele Films is a content creating production company. Tammy’Dele Films develops and produces feature films. We develop our own, as well as third party projects, and work closely with directors and screenwriters. We collaborate with other producers and productions companies and offer a range of development and production related services to the industry: Script & project development Production support & location services Line producing & co-production Distribution & marketing services PRODUCTION SUPPORT We provide crew, various production and location services in Atlanta, GA and the surrounding counties. The thing I am most proud of is through our education/job training arm, seeing others move on to successful careers in the industry.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I’m excited about the growth of the film and television industry in the state of Georgia! With the incentives and other great benefits of filming in Georgia, I see the industry expanding and with expansion comes more work and more business for locals. For example, Disney and Comcast are launching and expanding their SVOD platform (streaming video on demand). Disney and Fox are set to spend $22 Billion in 2019 and Comcast and Sky are set to spend $21 Billion while Netflix is set to spend $8 Billion in original and acquired content. This means a lot of jobs and opportunity for film makers just with these three companies alone. Content continues to prove itself to be king.
