Today we’d like to introduce you to Janece Streeter.
Janece, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I’ve been a lover of all things photography since I was a young girl. I have tons of photo albums full of pictures from the ’90s from disposable cameras that I carried around everywhere. I spent hundreds of dollars on wallet-sized photos from those 1hr. photo places when I was younger. Life has a way of taking you away from the things that you love to do. This last past Christmas, my husband purchased me a new camera and the rest was history! I fell in love with photography all over again.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I love to photograph people! It is amazing how you can watch someone transform right in front of your eyes as soon as they step in front of a camera. There is something special about making a person feel good about themselves. My goal isn’t just to take pretty pictures, the goal is to create an overall experience for the client in order to foster a fun environment, and then capture THOSE photos! The best photos are never planned.
How can artists connect with other artists?
I define success as my clients being happy. I am happy when they are happy. Also, if I can click through the photos from a session and they tell a story, I know I’ve done my job. The quality that I feel that is essential to success as an artist is authenticity. Staying true to your own style and not buying into all of the newest fads. Of course, it’s important to always continue to grow and evolve, but don’t lose sight of why you began your artistic journey in the first place.
