Today we’d like to introduce you to Sutton Eisenman.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We kind of had a funny start. I was doing Interior Design at the time, driving back and forth to and from Atlanta. I quickly realized that was not what I wanted for my life. One night, I was talking to my parents about it and they said: “why don’t you do wedding videography?” What?! Me?? Video weddings?! That was so out of left field. I had barely even attended weddings as a guest let alone try to film one! I would video trips Nathanael (my fiance at the time) and I would take and put them together just for little memories, but never had I thought of doing that professionally. I didn’t know anything about cameras or editing but I called Nathanael anyways and asked him what he would think if I decided to do that. I thought he would respond confused but no, he was so excited. He said “Yes! And I’ll do it with you!” Okay, so now, we have two people that don’t know what they’re doing but are going to try to figure it out together. We researched, we went to the school on YouTube, we prayed about it and we learned everything we needed to know to film a wedding. We booked four right in the start with no portfolio, no website, no nothing. That was so obviously God to us that it makes us laugh. Like who does that?! That is where our journey began!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Thankfully, I am able to say that overall it has been a smooth road. The way God has taken our business and turned it into what it is in just three short years blows my mind. It truly makes me believe that we are doing what we were meant to do.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about WedFlix – what should we know?
Our company provides couples with both photography and videography for their wedding day. We specialize in storytelling. Not only are we showing the highlights and special moments of their big day, but we are telling their story and letting them share their hearts with the viewers. I believe that’s what really sets us apart from other companies. I think the thing I am most proud of with our company is how we have grown in just three years. We started out with just me and my husband, but now we have multiple video teams and a photography team that we manage. Oh, and a huge accomplishment/dream fulfilled was filming a wedding in Santorini, Greece this past year!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think responsiveness and being humble are the most important things. I have been on the other end of wedding planning and I know how frustrating it is to not receive answers and to be working with someone who isn’t on top of things. I never want that to be us. I put so much value in being responsive to our clients. I also think being humble is a key to success. All of this that we have, everything we are doing, it’s all a gift from God and we need to treat it as such. We are in no way entitled to our success and know it could be taken away at any moment.
