Today we’d like to introduce you to Tayra Perez.
Tayra, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My career in Event Planning started in 2015 after a 12-year career as a Television Producer. I decided to leave my career as Senior Producer for NBC after my daughter, who was 13 yrs old at the time was diagnosed with a rare disability. We were in and out of hospitals for 6 months, just trying to figure out what was going on with her…Which meant that I couldn’t, nor wanted to work the 60-80 hrs a week my position required…I just wanted to be with my daughter… My only child! Since we loss my salary, living in Connecticut wasn’t serving us, so my husband, and I thought Georgia would be a great start for all of us.
But Event Planning, and designing didn’t just come out of the blue…It has always been my loving passion. While producing, I was the go-to girl or “The Party Producer,” who would help plan Events for Friends, Colleagues, and Family Members.
When our little family made our move to Georgia, I knew I could no longer work a full time job, so I decided to trust God, and the talents he gifted me with to pursue my own Event Planning & Designing business.
In 2016, I blended both my passions (Event Design & Producing) and started my YouTube channel, TheTayraPerezProject. On my channel, I show my nearly 100K subscribers how to make some of my Home, and Event designs on a budget.
Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but looking back it hasn’t been so bad either. The toughest challenge for me was booking clients in such a competitive field in Atlanta. I was a new Event Planner, Designer, and new to Georgia… an unknown! I spent lots of money advertising without fruition, and even hosted a Neighborhood Expo at my local rec center, as I was determined to show everyone what I was made of. Haha! After that, most of the clients I booked were from word of mouth until I started my YouTube channel 1 1/2 years later. YouTube has been a great marketing tool for TheTayraPerezProject Events.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with TheTayraPerezProject Events – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
TheTayraPerezproject Event’s mission is to provide our clients with Fun, Unique, and Sophisticated Designs for their Special events or Wedding. We take pride in having impeccable attention to detail, and tremendous passion as we help create a memorable, and stress-free event. What sets us apart is my love, and use of balloons in most of my designs. I enjoy making Balloon Sculptures, Garlands, and Backdrops. To me, balloon decorations make events look fun and elegant at the very same time… Love it!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I absolutely love Georgia’s weather. Prior to moving here I lived in Stamford, CT, and grew up in Chicago… Brrrrr!!! Makes me shiver just thinking about it! I lived in Stamford for six years but always felt like I didn’t belong. Georgia feels right, it’s home.
Now, driving to Atlanta is crazy… traffic is definitely my least favorite thing.
