Today we’d like to introduce you to Rhonda Travitt.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Rhonda. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I moved to the Atlanta, GA area over 12 years ago while building the Restoring The Years Global Ministries. In the many years as a pastor, new opportunities and needs were presented which I knew were my passion. As a pastor, I found that people not only needed to be pastor, but they needed to be coached, mentored and launched into destiny! I overcame some of the hardest of life’s punches and believe it is a gift to overcome and to be able to help someone else understand that giving up is not an option!
People would tell me that they loved that I would just tell them the truth because although it may hurt, it heals! I would say my unique delivery of inspirational wisdom is what sets me apart. The places in my life that I thought were the hardest actually pushed me to do and to be better. I wanted to help more people, so I pursued and obtained my doctorate degree and became a Christian Counselor and certified life coach practice,
I wanted more people to have access to the information that I had so I founded the Truth, Trust and Transparency Conference, a national and international women’s empowerment conference held annually. Each month, I host a women’s mentorship group, Queens & Rubie’z, which has a focus on empowerment. It is my desire to have chapters all over the country. I also founded the Rhema Bible Institute & Seminary which is an accredited degree program which allows pursuers to obtain Associates, Masters and Doctorate degrees in various programs.
I’ve functioned as an advisor to ministerial colleagues across the nation as well as a corporate life coach and mentor to individuals within a variety of professional arenas, from entertainment to entrepreneurship.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been anything but a smooth road. I moved to Atlanta alone and that was a challenge but I was confident in my belief that this is where God wanted me to be.
I had to overcome many people who did not believe in the vision I had and some who did believe and still walked away. I learned that some paths of my vision required partners but others required me to walk through it alone. I found out I was stronger and that being alone does not mean being lonely.
If I have any advice to give, I would say never give up because someone is waiting for your ability, gift or passion to stand out. Just because someone is doing something that is similar to you, they are not you! So, don’t count yourself out before you get into the race!
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m a noted author, entrepreneur, certified life coach, and professional counselor. A celebrated international speaker, The founder of Restoring the Years Global Ministries in Marietta, Georgia, she genuinely engages her past experiences and openly shares her heart with those seeking an empowered and fulfilled life.
I founded a non-profit called, The Game Changers in the first quarter of 2018 which seeks to promote successful reentry and reduce recidivism; by educating, equipping and empowering ex-offenders (which we like to call returning citizens to the community) with the necessary resources, thus strengthening the fabric of our communities.
My unique delivery of inspirational wisdom has been seen weekly for the last ten years in a broadcast named after Restoring the Years Global Ministries on Atlanta’s WATC Channel 57. My husband, Pastor Nick Travitt and I were heard weekly on 108 Praise Radio, with our show titled “Straight Up, No Chaser” which has recently been picked up as a television broadcast. One of the things I am most proud of is my husband and I working together in so many arenas. He pushes me to be successful in everything I set out to accomplish.
For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
I believe that women are positioned for every opportunity that life presents! More than ever, women are rising to the forefront in every area of government, media, entertainment and religious sectors. According to Fortune 500 Magazine, as of May 2018, there are 24 female CEOs of Fortune 500 companies which is about 5%. Although this isn’t the norm, women everywhere are making strides to walk into doors that traditionally would not have been opened to them. There has been a gradual progression but within the last five-ten years, opportunities are being presented for women in greater numbers than ever! There will always be obstacles but women are resilient and God has given women an innate ability to have a vision beyond our immediate circumstances.
