Today we’d like to introduce you to Aisha Allen.
Aisha, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Growing up I have always been a person who has loved visuals whether it was movies, music videos, magazines or even just family photos. Once I realized I wanted to do more visually the first person I told was my mom. She suggested I find a job in that field and continue to do it as a hobby. I had gotten hired at a Portrait Studio and worked there throughout high school. I would practice by getting my friends to do photo shoots with me. I felt like I had found my gift and it served as a creative outlet for me. Over time people started to see my images and that lead to more photo shoot requests. I started entering contests and submitting my work which has been published in a number of publications and showcases. I knew I wanted to turn my hobby into a business so I saved up my money to buy a digital camera and started my business the year I had my son. Ironically it was also around the time where my mom had found out she had Pancreatic Cancer. As an escape from some of the obstacles I was facing, I invested myself even more into my photography. My business continued to flourish and has allowed me to work with some notable people. Down the line I transitioned into video, and I have been doing both ever since. I am really excited for what is to come and I can’t wait to share my creative visions with the world.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a visual artist. Not only do I shoot photos and video but I also do logos, graphic art, editing, and soon film. I like shooting things that are eye catching, fresh, innovative yet timeless. I love scenery, so when I’m out, I am constantly looking for different places that will bring out my shots. It’s a great feeling when you have people that don’t know you at all, even from different countries reaching out to you and expressing how much they admire your work.
What would you recommend to an artist new to the city, or to art, in terms of meeting and connecting with other artists and creatives?
Definitely reach out to people whether that is through social media or email just to introduce yourself and your craft. Go to different events to network and shoot with people. Get involved in art showcases if you can to showcase your work with other artist in your city.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
