Meet Trailblazer Andrea Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Johnson.

Andrea, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been intrigued by fashion and how people can use it as a form of creative expression. I like to use my outfits as a way to express how I’m feeling and firmly believe an outfit can make you feel 100x better if you are having an off day. The old saying “dress for the job you want…” applies to other aspects of your life!

Fashion has always been an important aspect of my life and I’ve always been the one my friends turn to for fashion advice. Since it’s always been such a passion for me, I recently decided to take the leap into the blogging world. I love having social media platforms to share outfits, style tips and where to find designer pieces that won’t break the bank. I started my Instagram in late September and am currently working on my website where I will also share other aspects of my life (travel, books, recipes, etc.).

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been much harder than I thought to grow a following but I’m getting there! The market is definitely saturated with tons of fashion bloggers so it’s important to remember why you are sharing and what you hope to accomplish. Consistency is key and it can be hard to come up with intriguing content on a regular basis. I’ve learned it’s ok to recycle old photos and outfits and just be genuine – if you aren’t loving yourself that day, it will show in your photos!

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I really like bargain hunting for designer pieces at a fraction of the cost. Once I get my website up and running, I will be linking products and sharing all the great consignment and warehouse shops where I find my pieces. I want to show my followers you don’t have to spend $500+ on a pair of designer shoes – there are much more affordable ways to find the same brands.

Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
I was never an artistic child but I always loved to use my clothing as a form of expression. Where some people used art, writing or music to express themselves, I turned to fashion.
