Today we’d like to introduce you toEvan Ross Esjay.
Evan, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Since youth, I always wanted to get into photography. Although I never actually told myself I wanted to be that, I always picked up everyone’s little cameras to take all the pictures.
But I didn’t officially take it seriously until the day after my 22nd Birthday. That was my first “photo shoot.” I wonder how those pictures look today next to my current stuff, hah.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
My Art is my mind, the world, everything. I don’t typically talk about it because I don’t want my thoughts on my work to influence your mind. I want people to think of some fly shit on their own. They’d feel happier about a piece they own when it’s something they really felt instead of something I made them feel.
What would you recommend to an artist new to the city, or to art, in terms of meeting and connecting with other artists and creatives?
It’s super lonely hah. Nobody understands it. It’s cool a lot of times though. My only advice on that is, don’t be so open for friendship. That’s how people use you for pieces, shoots, etc.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
For now, only online. Mainly my Instagram @evanrossesjay. But that’s okay cuz they’ll be able to find out where all my future exhibitions will be.
