Meet Nikita Nikol

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikita Nikol.

Nikita, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I am an only child born and raised in Oakland California. Being raised by a single mother, she strived hard to make sure I received the best education possible. In my formative School years, I always loved to do things pertaining to fashion and beauty and had a side hustle of doing just that all throughout my schooling. During my typical teenage struggle, I relocated and stayed with my father where I graduated high school and continued on with the career of Cosmetology and discovering that fashion design school was very expensive with no guarantees. From 2003 I graduated cosmetology created my own business in the beauty industry. Over the years I had several salons with and without partnerships. I now understand the process and the overhead of having a Salon and have discovered that as the church the spirit of what it is that you do is inside of you and not attached to a brick-and-mortar. One should be able to spread their gift around the world and not be confined to a place.

I have since located to Georgia in 2017 working on my business Resilient Beauty Bar. I currently have coined the title of beauty illuminist my God-given talents are too many to just put under the title of hair stylist, extension specialist, holistic advocate, makeup artist or artist. In general, my main goal is to bring Beauty and light to whatever I touch whether it is the face, hair, clothing, decor, etc. I currently attend the Georgia Film Academy where my field of study is special effects and wardrobe. Slowly being immersed into this Georgia culture I’m excited to say that for the first time in my life I have not structured any plans I am open to allowing the powers-that-be to organically work and to see what the future has for Nikita Nikol and Resilient Beauty Bar and be on the lookout for what Nikita Nikol and Resilient Beauty Bar has for Georgia.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do? Why? And what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I believe that for so many years we have embraced standard marginalizations about what we do in the beauty industry. As of late, I have been struggling with this because there are so many talents that one is gifted with that it’s hard to Define a title for just one of those things.

I am currently involved in illuminating hair, makeup, custom hair units, painting, organic product making, fellow & peers and entrepreneurs, the sharing of knowledge, self-worth & esteem.

As in past years, my desire is not to be confined to doing just one thing. At this current time, I’m doing whatever at the moment makes me feel best. The inspiration that I receive is from the world around me and how I relate to that world if there is an energy in something that I want to do that feels great I will continue on with that endeavor. If it is too stressful or presents energy of negativity or nonfluid, I tend not to pursue those things and focus more on what makes me feel best.

In the beauty industry, there is always an ebb and flow, and one must find out what best suits them. Don’t give in to the industry standard or what you should be doing find your true personal niche and go with that as long as the energy and the vibrations are high in positive. The moment you feel negatively about something is your soul desires way of nudging you in the direction that you should go.

I hope this encourages others in this current carbon copy Beauty environment to set on your own original path; there is nothing new under the Sun the ideas that you have have been shared frequencies over time even if you’re doing the same thing someone else is doing no one can do it quite like you. Don’t focus on the popularity of the standard form of Art and beauty; I encourage you to break the mold and what feels best to you and discontinue when it no longer does. Only then you are in the true element of Beauty & Art.

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
As an artist success is defined to me as being properly rewarded in whichever manner that you see fit for your gifts and talents, whether it be financially, through accolades, recognition or what is most important to me seeing how you were able to help someone else through using your gift to shine your light. If Shining Light to help others is your only goal then all the other components of so-called success will be present. In my eyes the most major components to success are individuality, knowing your craft, character, and persistence.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
