Today we’d like to introduce you to Jair Salgado.
Jair, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
As a kid, I would always scribble on most of my school work. Not doodles but scribbles. Lines of no symmetry/ going nowhere. Looking back at it that’s where I believe I started the love to paint and express myself onto a canvas. I take my emotions and thoughts straight out of me onto a piece of work.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
As an artist I Believe I’m still growing I don’t quite know what kinda artist I am but every day is a day to work on my self.
I think at first I didn’t quite know what I was making. I was really letting out my inner thoughts onto a canvas. Now that I’ve started taking art more serious I want to put messages onto my artwork of things I think we as humans should care more about like global warming, Trash, Drugs, and so many other things.
I like to use acrylic paint on my pieces, mainly bc acrylic paint is way cheaper than oil paint. The process of a piece can take up to months to finish. I’ve had pieces that I’ll completely paint over and start again.
I want People to Just admiring my work. I want people to see the bigger picture in them. I want people to see my work and think “This man is insane.”
Artists rarely, if ever pursue art for the money. Nonetheless, we all have bills and responsibilities, and many aspiring artists are discouraged from pursuing art due to financial reasons. Any advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective artists?
I think as an artist I’m still learning. I’m new to all of this, and I never knew I wanted to become an artist. The thought of becoming an artist just came recently not too long ago. To any artist, I’d just say keep on GOING! Keep on working don’t ever stop!
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
Most of my work is on my Instagram @Jairwontdie.
I’m working on a website as of rn in order for people to observe and buy any piece of work.
If anyone wants to support me honestly just telling me to keep going is enough support. If anyone wants to buy any artwork that’s even better! I love it when people buy any of my work; it shows that they truly care.
I’ve been working on a series of paintings called “isolation series.”
I would love to have this series of work in a gallery. Hopefully soon!
