Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaliya Bashir.
Aaliya, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Warrior Body Spa started as Warrior Detox, a one-person consulting company focused on wellness by offering detox education & services (Ionic detox foot baths & slimming detox body wraps). In an effort to drum up more business and bring more awareness to these not so popular services, I had one of my massage therapist friends help me by offering massages on Monday.. waahlaa! Massage Mondays was born! Massage is a service most people are familiar with so it brought more awareness to the business & other services we offered. I changed the name to Warrior Body Spa to be more web friendly to help our intended customers find the company. The demand increased as customers spread the word of their visit to Warrior Body, and we moved from our 300 square feet location off the beaten path to a 1500 square feet building on the most popular road in the city of Tucker. As we grew the goal remained the same: to help people learn more about their bodies, help them feel better and flush toxins while delivering the best customer service.
“Warrior” in the name refers to the yoga pose. Yoga is like church to me. It helps keep me balanced, refreshed, and shows me I’m capable of achieving more than my expectations. I cried when I landed my first headstand!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The original name Warrior Detox came off too abrasive to those not familiar with daily detoxing. This caused confusion and didn’t always get the target customer in the door. With research, I changed the best name that explained the company to the T. We are a spa that helps you achieve your warrior body.
Another huge issue I had to get over was my anxiety about new people. I bet you didn’t see that one coming. All entrepreneurs are super confident, outspoken hard hitters, right? False. I was afraid to meet new people. I was nervous as shit, stumbling over words, confused about why they wanted to come back. Seriously. So many times I thought, “OMG. I totally messed that up. She’s never coming back.” Seriously. But I showed up every day. I love creating programs and seeing the results – but dealing with people, I didn’t plan that out so well. I was excited that the phone was ringing, I was booking appointments but the meeting had me biting my nails 30 minutes before the guest arrived.
I only had support from three people, and that was solely emotional support. My best friend who wasn’t sure what I was doing, or why, always cheered me on, my sister-in-law who kept me always thinking of new ideas, and my friend from my yoga classes helped me garner the courage to make the next steps. My customers told me that they were impressed by me and their experience, let me know they were rooting for me, bought my products, and kept coming back. We have some of the same customers six years later. I never imagined it. Of course, the goal is to be successful but it’s one day at a time. I work hard daily and make sure I’ve done the most and best I can do on that day. Reading reviews really gave me the strength to keep going. There’s no plan B. My mother and I weren’t speaking, I had just been dumped by my boyfriend of eight years, and everyone I knew that said they would show up and support, didn’t. It was these lovely strangers that met my awkward disposition and saw something that made them believe in me. I’m sure it wasn’t that deep to them, but it definitely is to me.

Warrior Body Spa is a specialty wellness spa offering therapeutic massage, detox foot baths, infrared sauna therapy, ear candling, slimming detox body wraps and LED Light Therapy. All of our services have the benefit of detoxification, inflammation0reduction & relaxation. We are sure to educate our guests about what we’ve learned about their bodies from their session and give more best practices for their everyday lives to prevent discomfort, tension, pain, and even stress that they may have gotten used to- and this sets us apart by a long shot. Our goal is to help you achieve your Warrior Body; one that is balanced, strong, and courageous. We take pride in literally changing people’s life every day. Everyone who walks in leaves in better condition than which they arrived.
We’ve also ventured out to create The Warrior Retreat, a private spa experience that allows guests to create a unique experience for their special occasions in Brookhaven and even spend the night in a guestroom if they would like.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would have let the world catch up to my detox idea, and not put massages to the forefront of the business. Making that choice was a matter of being resourceful, and I am not sure where we would be without it. Sometimes I feel like my mission gets lost in traditional spa offerings. I would tell myself five years ago, “You have a brilliant concept. Don’t try to catch up to the world. Let the world catch up to you.”
