Meet Kay Mollah of Xoxokaymo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kay Mollah.

Kay, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m just a Bengali American who’s obsessed with beauty/fashion, dogs, and coffee (in that order).

Ever since I could remember, I’ve always been on the heavier side. I was always the biggest friend/family member, so throughout my life, people have always had something to say about my weight. It wasn’t just my friends and family, it was also society. Looking through magazines, television, and even YouTube, I’ve noticed that there was a lot of content created for a certain size. Put all that together, and I was basically a very unconfident girl who thought I couldn’t be the best version of myself due to my weight.

A few years ago, I started a blog as a creative outlet where I talked about all things beauty. Even though I loved beauty, I found myself hiding in big t-shirts and hoodies because I simply thought bigger girls couldn’t look cute in clothes. Even on YouTube, there were hundreds and hundreds of YouTubers that were smaller than me putting out fashion content. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with that. I just hated that I didn’t see more women with my body shape creating content to help women like me put an outfit together.

Fast forward to today, I’m creating content for people who are on the plus side. From fashion advice to plus size hacks, I’m answering all the questions, ones I had to figure out on my own throughout the years.

Has it been a smooth road?
I will say trying to find my niche was my biggest struggle. At the beginning of my blogging and YouTube career, I was in a niche that was very saturated. Trying to find my own voice in a sea of similar content creators was very difficult. Being on the plus side was a blessing in a sense because not only I found my voice, I was able to be a voice for other people who related to me and help so many women.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Xoxokaymo – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
My blog and YouTube channel have one mission: to show that every BODY is beautiful and that no one should hide under their insecurities and under big, baggy clothes. Xoxokaymo is a space to help empower women everywhere to fall in love with the skin they’re in, no matter what “society” or everyone in their lives say.
