Today we’d like to introduce you to Shon Surles.
Shon, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my brand in Spring 2015, I have always been interested in Fashion since high school. I was so inspired about entrepreneurship at the time and doing something that will make me stand out and be remembered. I decided to start my own clothing line. When I first begun, it was such success I was happy with how things begin.
Not knowing I had so much more to learn. I have hit a lot of stumps. A lot of unprofitable seasons and tons of moments where I wanted to throw it all away. Which till this day I have those moments. My current success has taught me so much and the most important thing of it all is never give up and it’s not your timing; it’s God timing. I was persistent. I emailed my current partners fourteen months straight before finally getting a response to set up a meeting. I always told myself all I needed was the opportunity to get the room with the WHOS and there was no turning back for me. This is only the beginning.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth ride whatsoever. I think any successful person can contest that the pursuit of happiness is not no mile short of unhappiness. I have to endure broken nights, broken relationships with family and friends. Long days and hungry nights. I’ve had merchandise stolen after spending thousands of dollars have things manufactured. I’m sure there will be more difficulties in the future but I am well equipped to fight those battles.

My brand Diamond Pure is a male/female clothing brand. My strive for my brand to be appealing to everyone. Our motto is “Dress Well, Live Well.” We are known primarily for our diamond logo and dope streetwear tees. What sets us apart from others is that we appeal to every generation, race, and culture, our quality is superb and most of all of merchandise is affordable.
What were you like growing up?
I was a sports addict. I loved and still love football. I’ve always loved fashion because of my mom. I was known for my outfits on game day. I was the goofy class clown who could dress. I was also known for my taste of music because I love r&b and that was unusual for my age group.
