Meet Neffy Wells of SocialNeffy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Neffy Wells.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Well, it all started when my parents discovered my hidden talent of public speaking one day in our kitchen. We used to practice just the three of us in order to get that skill sharpened… They were completely blown away at how well I did. This was probably my junior year of high school, my mom wasn’t letting any of us go to bed that night without convincing me that a career in Mass Communications is what was going to be best for me. I started my social media SocialNeffy around that same time in December of 2015. I started off covering strictly celebrities and award show season until I got to college.

Fast forward to August 2016, I was a freshman at the University of West Georgia and that is where the real magic began. I started covering on-campus events to keep my fellow peers updated on all thing West GA, which turned into me hosting several events to crowds of hundreds of thousands and snowballed into me doing on-campus interviews on all types of juicy topics. I am using college as a platform to network, get my foot in the door and get my name out every single day. As I slowly approach my senior year, I can tell I am just getting started.

Has it been a smooth road?
Not even in the slightest. I cannot count the amount of times I’ve been said “No” to. How many times I never heard back for internship opportunities, how many times I felt I was getting looked over for no good reason. Then, of course, there is the always relevant seeing someone doing the thing, that you know it your heart you are better at. Although that is where my unwavering faith comes in. I have been astonished over the past few months at how God has truly been able to move in my life. Doors opening, I didn’t even know were doors. The slightest recognition from people I admire telling me how I am in the right place. These things make all of that alright because I understand, despite how bad it hurt, that it just was not for me. Along with, what is will always find its way.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the SocialNeffy story. Tell us more about the business.
I am actually a brand. So I am a walking business if you will and well I keep my hand in everything. I consider myself the Atlanta socialite. I go by the name SocialNeffy, signature: your favorite socialite Neffy. In which I cover campus events for students to stay up to date. Along with conducting on-campus interviews to discuss the questions we as college students are all wondering. Not to mention the occasional celebrity that pops up such as Wild N’ Out’s B. Simone and Dish Nation’s Headkrack. I host several on and off campus events. From our Preview Days, for potential students interested in the University, to Taste of the Runaway with Black Ink Crew: Chicago’s Don. Then there is the always excitement of red carpet coverage.

I’d say I’m most known for my bubbly personality which is ensured to keep the energy at any event upbeat. I think that is what I would say I am most proud of, you are guaranteed a good time with me as your host! What sets me apart is my drive, there is not a single day that passes by that I am not working on my craft, hosting an event, going out to network, etc. I do not sleep well at night not having all my business aspects in order. I found the niche in the market here on campus so I am automatically set apart from others for no ones does what I do. I am very proud of that for I am my only competition but I also always must always improve so no bores of me. I always want people to yearn for what’s next to come from SocialNeffy!

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Wow. My industry of Entertainment New Corresponding in the next 5- 10 years. Honestly, I do not know. I am hoping to see more opportunity outlets for college and up incoming Media Personalities such as myself. There have been times where I was denied internships simply because I did not attend a Historically Black College or University and if that is going to be the case, then I would like to see more options for those of who are enrolled at other types of institutions. There is no for sure way to make it in this industry and I myself am trying to figure it out each day but I believe creating more accessible options will definitely make it more fair and opening these up to everyone will truly decipher who is the best.
