Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Oglesby.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started in this industry around my senior year of high school and freshman year of college by working closely with one of Atlanta’s hottest rap groups at the time which led me to learn the industry and find out that this was something I wanted to make my career. I went from starting with multiple internships in the city to finally having my own artist who I conducted artist development and being apart of their management team. This led me to want to become one or the top A&R’s because I felt that I have an ear to spot good talent in music. Songwriters, Artist, and Producers are always contacting me for feedback on their music and I feel as a successful A&R I can land good music where it deserves to be.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to success isn’t always smooth as we are to understand struggle to appreciate success. There have been times where I have had a hard time with a few things as far as artist management goes but pushing through always gets you to the next stop.
I think that it is important for us to find a mentor or an industry attorney to ask questions if we grow to not understand certain terms and processes that we should take in our paths. The lack of understanding and learning can cause for things to be difficult along the way. Always be ready to learn something new!

I specialize in the business of Artist Consult/Artist Development and A&R. I am known by most from being apart of the management teams of CosaNostra Kidd, LandStrip Chip, LightSkin Keisha, Johnny Cinco, Eearz, MSA PG, and MacNel. By doing in house marketing plans for projects and bookings for artist, I am usually contacted by promoters for shows to get the artist live at their club/venue due to my relationship with the particular artist.
On the A&R side, I am known for plugging songwriters with other artist and producers, and artist with producers to create more of a sound I feel they can bring out of each other. What I am proud of is how well rounded I have grown to be while working with artist from all angels of their career. I feel good knowing that the hard work I put in has actually helped to gain them more momentum or helped them to get to the next level far from where they started. Keeping the good energy around and reminding everyone to just believe in their goals is what sets me apart from others. I will not be stopped in the process of creating my success story. I plan to keep going and to inspire the ones who are watching me in any way.
