Today we’d like to introduce you to the Treehouse Experts.
Myada, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Treehouse Experts developed out of our lead builder and designer, Maxime Risch’s, passion for trees/the outdoors, coupled with the founders’ entrepreneurial spirits . Max attended lumberjack school at the age of 14 in France where he learned the art of woodwork and technique. He then earned an Arborist and Forestry degree. In his spare time, he began participating in tree climbing competitions. He built his first tree house out of recycled material and natural logs and continued to incorporate natural elements in later builds. Max decided to turn his passion into a career. He began working at and operating several outdoor adventure parks in France, and eventually he began building the parks! After 15 years of experience, he decided to devote his career to building tree houses.
When I met Max, I was immediately intrigued by his enthusiasm for Mother Nature, creativity, and unique carpentry skills. After many discussions with him regarding tree house construction and hours of research, I found that there was a need in the southeast for a custom tree house company, as there are only a handful of companies throughout the U.S. that specialize in custom tree houses, most of which are based on the west coast. My co-founder and I decided to take the leap – we recruited Max as our general manager, in addition to several other skilled carpenters, who share a love for trees and the outdoors – soon enough, Treehouse Experts was born! Atlanta, “the city in a forest,” is the perfect place for our company to thrive.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As with any small growing business, we have met some obstacles. The biggest challenge, particularly in our niche industry, has been to continue to grow our team by adding experienced, innovative, and environmentally conscious skilled carpenters, who can build at heights.
Please tell us about Treehouse Experts.
Treehouse Experts is a privately owned and operated company that specializes in the construction of custom tree houses, playgrounds, zip lines, decks, suspended bridges, and other in-tree and ground structures. Our objective is to build fun, safe, and unique structures that will entertain children and adults alike. We provide services to individuals seeking private structures in their own backyards, as well as summer camps, adventure parks, and hospitality/lodging industries.
Our goal is to create unique, authentic, and whimsical tree houses with modesty and comfort inspired by nature. All of our structures are constructed with the use of natural materials and are eco-friendly with respect to the local environment and tree population. We offer an original design for each project we undertake, specifically
based on the layout of your trees.
The first priority of Treehouse Experts is safety. Before starting a project, we determine whether the trees can welcome the tree house by inspecting whether the trees are strong and in good health. Our second priority is to respect the health and integrity of the trees. The trees are part of the tree house, so we want to minimize the impact of the tree house on the trees. That’s why we use tree house attachments bolts.
Treehouse Experts is unique because we build custom (in its purest sense of the word) and personalized structures from start to finish for every aspect of the structure, including the windows, door, railing, stairs, etc. But, we do not only build tree houses. If a client has a small backyard- no problem! We will build an entertainment deck to enjoy a BBQ or happy hour amongst the beauty of the trees. If a client has younger children, we can build a playground, tree fort, or deck with all the bells and whistles including swings, climbing walls, slides, monkey bars, zip lines, etc. If our client has a vision, we will execute it!
What sets us apart? How many companies do you know that has tree climbers as employees who can build a structure so far off the ground?!
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I too have had a love for the outdoors since a young age. One of my fondest memories is escaping with my brother and sister into the woods in our neighborhood and discovering an abandoned fort that we took in as our own – we added to the fort as we built mini platforms and a rope swing! We would go there during every spare moment, always remembering to pick the honey suckles the entire way home. After dark during the summertime, we would try to catch lightening bugs with our bare hands. Our neighborhood was located on a small lake, so most of my childhood memories involve being outside for most of the day and doing some kind of activity in the water 🙂

- Our classic and whimsical 6×6 tree houses start at $7,700 and the 8×8 start at $9,900.
- Our “open wall” 6×6 tree house starts at $7,500.
- Our suspended deck starts at $4,500 – the perfect alternative option to a traditional backyard deck. It is versatile as the deck allows for many options: playground for kids, relaxing hangout area for adults, and allows you to gain space for a smaller backyard.
