Meet Kelli Kelley of Kelley Brand Communications in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelli Kelley.

Kelli, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my career in communications over a decade ago with the Walmart brand Faded Glory in New York shortly after completing my undergrad. Despite having no education in communications, I secured a Publicist role with the company and discovered my passion for building brand awareness.

In 2011, I decided to try my hand at entrepreneurship and launched a pr company here in Atlanta. Around 2014 I noticed my clients were inquiring more and more about social media and digital marketing so I decided to get some new skills and rebrand my business as a digital marketing firm.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There’ve definitely been struggles along the way. The most significant struggle was right in the midst of me restructuring my business to be a digital agency, I got pregnant with my 1st child and experienced really bad pre and postpartum.

I didn’t recognize it as PPD because I didn’t have thoughts of hurting my baby, I had thoughts about how much of a failure I was professionally and I didn’t know as much as I thought I did. I did not have a single creative thought from month 4 of pregnancy until about a year after I had my daughter. I’d never, ever had a problem generating creative ideas or thoughts and it was like someone turned the lights off in my brain. It was a very scary time.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Kelley Brand Communications – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My company Kelley Brand Communications is a digital marketing agency focused on identifying qualified leads for our clients and then creating digital content to help convert those leads into sales. We specialize in social media marketing, podcast production, email marketing, website design, content marketing, and reputation management.

The biggest differentiator between us and our competitors is that we really align our strategies with the client’s sales goals. We do not operate in a silo and just create cool content, we first learn about the pain points the sales team is having while trying to close and then we create content that speaks to that.

I’m most proud of how we’ve stayed true to our values of maintaining integrity, always giving it our best and going above and beyond to serve our clients.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future are to integrate a media company that we’ve been working on into a more integral role of the business. Maintaining visibility is becoming increasingly important, especially by way of video so we will be doing more of that for the agency and also for our clients.
