Life and Work with Keshia Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keshia Johnson.

Keshia Johnson began her career in Real Estate in 2000 and has been a top producing agent ever since.

As a graduate of Northside High School in Atlanta and the University of West Georgia, Keshia’s unparalleled familiarity of the metropolitan Atlanta market stems from her native Atlantan background. After being recognized as Rookie of The Year by Coldwell Banker, Keshia facilitated a landmark development deal which brought John Willis Homes, which is one of North Atlanta’s premier builders, to the burgeoning South Atlanta community. The Gates at Stone Lake is one of John Willis Homes’ most successful selling communities to date and is a testament to Keshia’s passionate commitment to
ensuring her clients come first.

Keshia’s expertise, attention to detail and high-level professionalism have enabled her to sell homes to a
wide array of clients in Atlanta’s most exclusive zip codes. Her niche in all aspects of the industry has
allowed Keshia to represent NFL stars, NBA players and entertainment industry icons to name a few.
Keshia has been privileged to sell in the high-end market but she still finds extreme joy in working with
First Time Home Buyers as well. Keshia’s motto and staunch belief are “Providing Luxury to All.”

Keshia also spends time mentoring new Agents and receives several inquiries on social media from new
Agents seeking her advice. Though she takes the time to respond to each one, Keshia realized that she
could help guide more Agents by lending her expertise via a wider medium.

This led Keshia to write her first eBook titled “You Have Your License Now What”? This eBook is a short
easy to read guide that will help new Agents as well as seasoned Agents with the basic steps to a quick
closing.

Keshia is the Mom of a very active 17-year-old. In her free time, Keshia can be found at the baseball field

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely has NOT been a smooth road. Real Estate is a business that can have you excited, frustrated, happy, and crying all in ONE DAY! This isn’t a business for someone who isn’t STRONG in their faith because you literally wake up each day unemployed. Add to that the personal things that life brings, it can be very challenging. I lost my husband suddenly in 2008 and his loss rocked me to my core. Coming back full-fledged has been challenging for me, becoming a Single Mother overnight has been tough; but I have been extremely Blessed with support from my family, Clients, and even Agents I worked with before my loss. If you are a young woman entering Real Estate; lead with knowledge and professionalism at ALL times. I see many young Agents leading with looks and that may get you in the door, but not a seat at the closing table if you don’t know what you are doing.

Please tell us about K Johnson Group.
I am a Veteran Realtor here in Atlanta. Part of what sets me apart is I am a NATIVE Atlantan which is rare these days. I have been Blessed to work with everyone from first-time Homebuyers to Celebrities. My proudest moment was in 2018 when I wrote my first book for New Agents; “You have your License, Now What.” I really wanted to be a guide for Rookies because so often Agents quit before they are able to experience the benefits of this sometimes difficult, but still a very amazing career. It is very easy to get discouraged and so my hope is that by providing basic steps for success, we will retain more talented and driven people to our industry. I also created an online academy to aid New Agents, https://keeping-it-real-estate-academy.teachable.com/. I offer webinars, ebooks and courses they can purchase and go back for reference for as long as they need to.

There’s a wealth of academic research that suggests that a lack of mentors and networking opportunities for women has materially affected the number of women in leadership roles. Smart organizations and industry leaders are working to change this, but in the meantime, do you have any advice for finding a mentor and building a network?
The most important thing is to be sure you are looking for advisement on YOUR business and not someone to give you a job. Oftentimes, I find that when people reach out to me for mentorship, they really want me to give them business and be available 24/7 without them having done their part to grow their business. One must be accountable and self-sufficient on their own first.
