Meet Candyce Nicole of Socialite By Nite in Buckhead

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candyce Nicole.

Candyce, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve been working as an IT Consultant for almost seven years now. My job has afforded me the pleasure of working remotely. But while it’s nice to avoid Atlanta’s “lovely” traffic, working from home can be a bit boring. The people I work with are located all over the world, so there’s no opportunity for us to enjoy water cooler chats throughout the day. And I could get easily bogged down with a project and not leave the house for days.

So in 2017, I decided to make an effort to slip out of my yoga pants uniform and slip into more fabulous attire. I’d always been interested in starting a blog and social media platform, and I thought the perfect way to do so would be to share all of the fun and exciting things I did around the city of Atlanta as my way of making my life more exciting (and my way of keeping my social skills intact). I hoped to inspire others to explore this amazing city we live in and promote the awesome businesses, events, and restaurants that we’re fortunate enough to enjoy. Thus, Socialite By Nite was born!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a blog and/or social media platform has its challenges. If you want it to grow into something meaningful, it takes more than just coming up with an available username and posting randomly. You have to be intentional about what you post, how frequently you post and make what you share valuable in some way to your audience. Figuring out what people look to you for can take some trial and error. But once you’ve determined that, things get easier.

Even though I started Socialite By Nite almost two years ago, I’m just recently getting a better sense of what my audiences expect from me. I had to start listening to the things they’d come to me about–like, “Where can I go for XYZ?” or “What’s going on this weekend?” Once you figure out your purpose and your “Why?”, the road gets smoother. Like any business, it’s never 100% perfect 100% of the time. But because you know your purpose, you’re better equipped to get through those tough times.

Please tell us about Socialite By Nite.
I’m a blogger and social media influencer, and my blog is called Socialite By Nite. My focus is on lifestyle-based content: I share the best and newest restaurants in Atlanta, promote the wide variety of events that occur in the city, and share glimpses of fun I get into after my workday is done.

I’m proud that I took something that was somewhat of a problem–the lack of human interaction that can occur when you work from home–and turned it into a passion. I love being able to flex my creative muscles, having the opportunity to meet amazing and inspiring people, and enjoying all that Atlanta has to offer. It’s also been so cool to see my work paying off and being successful at something I care so much about. But this is only the beginning! I have so much more to share.

I think what makes me unique is that I don’t focus on just one aspect of life–I share my dining experiences, but I’ll also share things about fashion or travel or that dope concert I went to the night before. I’m multi-faceted. I work in the field of IT but my degree is in English. I’m silly and fun, but I can be laser-focused when it comes to what matters to me. I use my platform to share my different layers, and I think people find that interesting.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I come from a huge family. So my favorite memories involve all of the fun times I share with the people that matter most to me. Here’s to many more amazing memories to come!
