Today we’d like to introduce you to Nichole Murray-Fink.
Nichole, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Where I am today is nowhere close to where I imagined I’d be as a little girl. I always believed that after I graduated college, I would be working a corporate job in some swanky tower in downtown Atlanta. When that dream became my reality, I was thrilled. I felt that I was on the right path, but that feeling was short-lived. Within a few years, corporate life was wearing on me and I felt creatively stifled and in need of something more fulfilling. I was fortunate enough to take a leave of absence and accompanied my husband to Croatia for a month-long business trip. It was there that I picked up my camera again and reconnected with the person I was and began my search for the person I wanted to be.
Within a few months, after we had returned from our trip, I had resigned from my job to find fulfillment and joy. During this time, I allowed myself to dabble and pursue whatever interests that spoke to me without the pressure of expectation. In doing so, it became evident that photography had my heart and it was something that I needed to pursue more deeply.
Over the course of the past few years, photography has shifted from simply being an interest to my business. I love that it affords me the opportunity to connect with others, stretch my creativity and be my own boss. Though each day brings its own unique challenges and I’m still growing as an entrepreneur and creative, I’m grateful for where I am today and the direction this new path has taken. Stepping out and taking a chance at finding true happiness has made this new life possible.
Has it been a smooth road?
My path has been far from smooth. With each step I’ve taken, there have been challenges and setbacks that I’ve had to work hard to overcome. Whether they’ve been emotional challenges with believing in myself, my work and my path or business challenges with finding clients or managing priorities, living a life filled with passion are not for the faint of heart. You must have grit. You must believe in yourself and your abilities even when it feels like everything is working against you. I think the key to getting to where you want to go is persistence and showing up for yourself every day. If you can do that, you will be amazed at how far you can go.
We’d love to hear more about Nichole Fink Photography.
I am an Atlanta-based portrait and travel photographer. Since I was young, I’ve always had a deep love for exploration, nature, and people. I also tend to take notice of things that others might not see, and it influences all aspects of my work. I strive to capture unique moments while exploring places far away or when creating images that speak specifically to my client’s needs in branding or personal photographs.
I’m a believer in beauty and that it exists in the mundane to the extraordinary. I’ve been lucky enough to have traveled to some wondrous places around the world and have been able to witness beauty in different forms. I love that through my photography I can subsequently create pieces of art for people to enjoy. I love taking portraits and connecting with people. I feel so blessed to be entrusted to capture special moments with couples and individuals or to partner with bloggers, entrepreneurs, and creatives to craft images that highlight what makes them awesome at what they do.
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
People may not at first believe in your vision, but you can’t let that negative energy get in your way. You must always believe in yourself and trust your instincts.
